I am very grateful for the support my campaign has been receiving and for the opportunity to continue serving Gloucester residents. Thank you Joey Ciamitaro and the entire crew at Good Morning Gloucester for the chance to share my campaign statement and for all that you do each and every day to support causes that are important to our community.
My name is Jeff Worthley. I’m from Gloucester–and I’m for Gloucester.
I’m 46 years old, a father of two Gloucester students-my daughter-a 6th grader at O’Maley and my son-a freshman at Gloucester High School. I had the opportunity to serve on the City Council when I was 24 years old and again when I was 26. I got married, had children and started my own financial services practice that has been a success helping people with their planning needs consistently for 14 years. 2 years ago I decided to return to public service and I ran for and won an at large City Council seat.
I’ve served successfully on the Budget & Finance Committee. My kids and I have organized multiple positive civic events over the last couple of years and we continue to inspire, and be inspired by volunteers.
I worked at the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce for four years, starting the Lobster Trap Tree, the downtown Window Box Program and the Gloucester Gift Certificate keeping $700,000 in our local economy.
I’m running for another two year term on the City Council because I make a positive difference for Gloucester residents. Listening is the main ingredient in public service and I’m known for doing that well. And, in addition to listening to residents when they are advocating for a particular position I have the courage to trust my judgment that the interests of the other 29,000 residents are also taken into consideration.
We have a LOT of work to do to create more housing that is affordable for Gloucester residents. We have to draw more employers here so that we can increase the choices of jobs for Gloucester residents. And we need to remember that there are an endless amount of good things worth preserving in Gloucester.
I ask for one of your four votes in today’s election. There are a lot of good candidates running. I’m first on the ballot and hope voters will choose me so I can continue to work with the other candidates and each of the Ward Councilors to make Gloucester better.
Thank you.
Jeff Worthley
