 ~ CHAMBERCACC

The Rockport Division of the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce will hold the 32nd annual Rockport Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30 at 2 PM.  The event is for the children of the town – preschoolers through grade one – and will take place at Millbrook Meadow, Beach Street, Rockport.

Pre-schoolers will be grouped in one section and kindergarteners and first graders in another.  In addition to assorted candies, chocolates, and small prizes, the hunt will feature four golden eggs to be redeemed for larger prizes. The Easter Bunny is also expected to make an appearance.  Children should bring a basket and arrive early – the hunt will begin promptly at 2.

This year’s event is being organized by the Chamber’s Rockport Division with key support from Institution for Savings and donations from Rockport Inn & Suites and The Seafarer Inn.

Dr. Stuart Ablon will present “Introduction to Collaborative Problem Solving” on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the O’Maley Middle School Auditorium

Dr. Stuart Ablon will present “Introduction to Collaborative Problem Solving” on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the O’Maley Middle School Auditorium as part of the Gloucester Public Schools Family and Community Speaker Series.

The Family and Community Speaker Series is designed to help families with some of the most common family struggles and dynamics.

Collaborative Problem Solving is an innovative, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approach to helping kids with behavioral challenges. Collaborative Problem Solving promotes the understanding that some children lack the skill—not the will—to behave, specifically struggling with skills related to problem-solving, flexibility, and frustration tolerance.

The approach for Collaborative Problem Solving was developed in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and is taught all over the world by its program, Think:Kids (www.ThinkKids.org). Research has shown that Collaborative Problem Solving reduces challenging behavior, stress levels, and punitive responses and teaches kids the skills they lack while building positive relationships with adults.

Join Dr. Ablon for an informative presentation on Collaborative Problem Solving where attendees will:

  • Understand what really causes challenging behavior or unmet expectations
  • Discover the limitations of motivational approaches as a solution to unwanted behavior
  • Learn three ways adults can respond to unwanted behavior and the best times to use them
  • Envision how the approach can positively change interactions and outcomes with kids and support families in your care

A community resource fair is scheduled at 5 p.m. at O’Maley Middle School before Dr. Ablon’s presentation on March 28.Please join the district for both the resource fair and presentation – and free pizza will be provided by Firing Up Pizza & Grill while it lasts.

The Family and Community Speaker Series is co-sponsored by the Gloucester Public Schools and Gloucester Health Department.
