Hello,

My name is Jill Cahill, I am the Communications and Events Coordinator at Pathways for Children.  I wanted to reach out to you about our annual Holiday Toy Drive as it involves many local businesses and benefits children in our community.  I have attached an informational sheet for you.  I know that Good Morning Gloucester has become a very popular way for people in our community to find out about community happenings so we would truly appreciate any attention you can bring to this important effort.  I would be happy to send you pictures, graphics, or whatever you think would make this more fun to post.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks!

Best,

Hi Joey,

Although I really do try, I can’t stop myself from pulling off the road  to take sunset pictures. I am constantly amazed by the variation of beauty this planet gives by spinning around. How lucky we are!

Hi Joey,

I’d like to share some photos of a cold day at the Cox House (Essex Green Belt) on Rt 133 in Essex (just before the Blue Marlin on the Right).   It’s a great spot along the Essex River, with nice pathways for walking and bird walking.   Very dog friendly.  There was an artist there painting when we were there today.  Even on a cold day it is a beautiful spot.

Chorus North Shore Holiday Concerts 12/7 and 12/8

For their 82nd season, under the direction of Sonja Dahlgren Pryor, Chorus North Shore is performing Handel’s Messiah with the Honors Youth Choir, the Festival Orchestra and joined by soloists Jean Danton, soprano; Martin Kelly, tenor, and Mark Andrew Cleveland, bass.

Concerts are Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 8:00 PM at Our Lady of Hope Church on Linebrook Road in Ipswich and Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Hamilton-Wenham High School, 775 Bay Road in South Hamilton

Tickets are available now on the website at www.chorusnorthshore.org and will be on sale at the door before the concerts

General Admission: $20; Seniors/Students $17; Children 12 and under are free

Handel’s Messiah, one of the best-know and most frequently performed choral works in Western music, was originally an Easter offering first performed at the Musick Hall in Dublin on April 13, 1742. On Christmas Day in 1818 the Handel and Haydn Society in Boston performed Messiah and since that time it has become a perennial Christmas favorite. And now it has become a biennial tradition for Chorus North Shore.

The Lovely Cookie Ladies At The 2013 Seacoast Holiday Fair

You would not believe how many incredible cookies were made for the fair.  Nice turnout where 100% of the money goes back to the residents.

I happen to know these beautiful women and they’re even sweeter than the cookies.

Cape Ann Farmer’s Market Harvest Festival at The UU Was Packed! (and I scored some of my favorite pickles)

This is a must attend event every year.  Wish it happened every week or every other!

Just another wild weekend in Gloucester with only 50 or so community events happening around town to choose from.

You know those people who say there’s nothing to do around here? They really ought to be committed to the funny farm.

The Gloucester Area Astronomy Club is pleased to host two wonderful presentations at the December 13 meeting, one by Steve Kolaczkowski, and another by Dr. Mario Motta. Steve K will open the meeting by showing us what’s in store for us in the winter sky, from planets to galaxies to star clusters and nebulae; Steve will be followed by Dr. Motta’s presentation on the strange journey of one of his giant telescope optics.

The large mirror, 1/3 the size of the Hubble primary (!), was designed as part of a satellite before it became the primary optic for Mario’s first big telescope. When he made another large telescope for his Gloucester observatory, Mario donated the mirror to a facility in Italy where it is now being used for spectroscopy.

Come on out and enjoy Mario’s remarkable optical saga, Steve’s fun and informative look at what’s up, and the usual (and some not so usual) good things to eat and drink, and great conversation.

The public is warmly invited. There are no dues or fees, and no special knowledge or equipment is needed to have a great time.

GAAC meets on the second Friday of the month at 8:00pm, at the Lanesville Community Center, 8 Vulcan Street, in the Lanesville neighborhood of Gloucester. More info can be found on the club website at http://gaac.us and on the club facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/gaacpage or on Twitter, @gaactweet.
