Delta Terminal and Dunks

I’d like either Cape Ann Coffee or Lone Gull or Willow Rest To Open Up At Logan. Please and Thank You.

So we get through the TSA screeners and inside the Delta Terminal.  With the 2:45AM wake up time a Kate and I were looking forward to a coffee.  Her order- Iced French Vanilla.  She heads to the gate with the two youngest, and my oldest The Bean stays back to get coffees with me.

There’s about six or seven dining options including Fresh City Wraps, Friendlies, Dunks and some burrito place, all serving breakfast.  Line at Dunks is 40 deep.  Biggest line at the other spots is 3 people max.

I go to Fresh City Wraps because they are serving breakfast and ask for an iced coffee, they say they don’t have iced coffee.  They’re serving coffee.  They have ice.   But they won’t sell me an iced coffee.

Go to the next stall, the Burrito place which is also open, serving breakfast.  “Can I get an iced coffee?”

“No, we don’t sell iced coffee.”

But they’ve got coffee, and they’ve got mountains of ice.”

They just won’t put the ice in the coffee and take my money completing the transaction like a normal business would.

We all know and have become accustomed to getting ass raped by shtty airport food pricing not to mention shitty airport food, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why in the world the management of these chains have decided that it’s a good business decision to not take my money for stuff they have at their fingertips even when they could have porked me at overpriced airport pricing.

Meanwhile at the very next stall to the Burrito place Dunks has a line 40 deep and they are twiddling their thumbs at Fresh City Wraps and The Burrito place.

Only thing I could think of was that maybe Dunks has a deal where only they and Starbucks can sell Iced coffee? Could that be? Otherwise the management at Fresh City Wraps and the Burrito place need to be fired immediately for not offering overpriced airport iced coffee when they sell coffee and have ice.

Am I crazy for thinking this is crazy?

Three Kids Are Either Going To Be Institutionalized Or Excited Beyond Words Fifteen Minutes From Now At 3AM

My daughters have been begging to go someplace warm for school vacation for the past three years and I’d been unable to do so.  My Kate’s son has never been on a plane.  All three expect that we are going to Boston for a staycation and while they wouldn’t admit it I can sense their disappointment thinking they aren’t going anyplace warm.

Thing is we did book flights to Florida and they have no idea.

As I type this at 2:51 AM the morning of Good Friday we are about to hook up my cell phone to the huge karaoke speaker and place it in the hallway outside their bedrooms where we will blast this audio mashup I pre-recorded.

Have a listen and imagine what it about to go down when they are woken from their sleep to this-

Bevan Worell, winning the “Awesome Gloucester” challenge at GHS on Monday night

Hi Joey. This is my son, Bevan Worell, winning the “Awesome Gloucester” challenge at GHS on Monday night, the 10th. He presented a project idea about creating a classroom with Virtual Reality headsets where students can “go” to all different places they may be studying about, like Africa, the Louvre, or even ” visit” a college choice, all through Virtual Reality. He won the challenge and received $1000 which will go toward the purchase of VR headsets. So proud of my son!!Thank you, Wendy Worell

Vortex Burn Barrel Build and Operation

I got a 55 gallon steel drum at North Shore Scrap Metal a couple of days ago for use as a burn barrel.

After doing a little research and with a few DIY modifications I burned the brush in the yard pretty darn efficiently.

Before you attempt any of the you should consult the city website and Fire Station to be sure you pull a permit and are burning on a day the City allows burning.

First drilled holes using a half inch drill bit about 4-6 inches from the bottom of the barrel and about ten inches apart.

Then go up about six inches and over three and make more holes going around the barrel.

Also drill some holes in the bottom so water can escape and the burn barrel won’t rust out as quickly.

Next use a sawzall or jigsaw to cut the Barrel from hole to hole diagonally.

Next stick a hammer pulling end into the slot and pull it so there’s an opening for air to stoke your fire.

Prop your barrel up on bricks, make sure you are far from structures and keep a hose close by, wet down the surrounding area and start a small fire.

It Was A @WeberGrills Kinda Day

Joey Ciaramitaro's avatarNortheast BBQ

The day started off cleaning a Black Stainless Steel First Generation Performer Up. She had quite a buildup of charcoal on the bowl but after a couple of hours of razor blade and steel wool she came out shining-

The afternoon brought about a walk around the Back Shore and Past The Wharf. On this walk I’d taken dozens of times and at an old apartment house I’d driven past thousands and thousands of times was a neglected pretty rare Green 18 inch Weber One-Touch Premium. She’s in very rough shape. Needing a new lid vent, a new handle(this one is melted), new charcoal and cooking grates and some serious deep cleaning. The frame and table are in very good shape though.

I spotted her on the walk but was not going to be stopping as I was with my beautiful Kate.

Later that evening I knocked on the door…

Rockport School System goes Solar With Cazeault Solar!

Rockport School System goes Solar!

Rockport Public Schools is proud to announce that sufficient funds have now been raised to install a pole mounted solar array system at the site of their new greenhouse, wellness and sustainability center on the school’s campus. The solar project will also include an internet based monitoring software system which will allow students in their classrooms to visually see on a daily basis the benefits of using solar energy not only financially but in the future preservation of our previous environment.

“ I am so pleased to be able to spearhead this project. The students all hear and see solar systems going on homes and businesses. Now we will be able to teach then about the concept of solar and how it is good for us today and in the future” – Rob Liebow – Superintendent of Rockport Public Schools

“ We are grateful to work with Mr. Liebow and the Rockport Public Schools on this special project. We will continue to work with the staff and students to give seminars on the benefits of solar. Mr. Liebow initiative should be commended as he is bringing the teachings of new emerging technologies to the students of Rockport.  What fun we will have working with the students”. – Tim Sanborn, owner of Cazeault Solar and Home.
