Eight years after F/V Tuna Hunter tagged and released this Tuna it was recaught…
Congratulations to Captain Gary Connell and crew, F/V Tuna Hunter, & angler George Horensky, for this exciting Tag a Tiny recovery, after 8 years (2,976 days) at liberty! F/V Tuna Hunter released this 55″ bluefin tuna off Stellwagen Bank on 8/17/2008. At recapture it was 91 ” (471 lbs), in 52 deg F, by Japanese longline vessel F/V Chokyu 1, Captain Shuji Shibata, on 10/10/2016. Straight line distance: over 2,200 nmi, and we bet it swam vastly farther than that over 8 years!
LPRC thanks our colleague Dr. Ai Kimoto, Japan Far Seas Fisheries Research, and Billfish Foundation partners for getting this important recovery back to our Tag a Tiny Program.

Do you have kids? If the answer is yes, then you need to check out Happy Belly.Β You can have great food, COCKTAILS [or wine] and your kids donβt have to sit still. I repeat, siting still is not required.
Just think: You donβt have to juggle your desire to have an adult conversation with your role as restaurant-crayon conflict negotiator (we all have been there, when every child needs to use the blue crayon at that moment or they may die).
PLUS your kids will actually have fun too!
Happy Belly is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner at 3 Duncan Street in Gloucester http://www.HappyBellyGloucester.com 978.317.7571

Free Admission at Sargent House Museum Today Friday August 25, 2017!
The Sargent House Museum invites you to attend our Free Back to School Internship Day onΒ Friday, August 25, 2017, fromΒ 12:00 β 4:00 PM. While the event is free to the public, donations are encouraged in order to support our Summer High School Internship Program in the hopes of expanding the program in the future.
Unlike our traditional tours, the Back to School Internship Day is an opportunity for the public to explore the house at their leisure while our interns educateΒ visitors in each room. The Summer High School Internship Program provided students with an opportunity to explore the life, times, writings, and home of Judith Sargent Murray, a pioneering advocate of womenβs education and equality. That said, this event is the culminating event for the internship program which consisted of a ten-week project-based program individually designed and executed by each intern. Internsβ projects explored areasβ¦

Flags on the Boulevard
Joey–I was going through some pictures I took during our visit to Gloucester this past June and noticed you can pretty clearly see the name of the person being remembered on one of the flags flying at the time.
I thought you might like to share the picture with a shout out to the Dana Curcuru family. It’s such a great project and the flags on the Boulevard always look so nice and do Gloucester proud. Hope to see you soon. Pat D

Lost Dog
Hi Joey,
My name is Mara Cornetta, we live in Anisquam. We lost a brand new dog on Sunday night from our home. He slipped his collar and ran off. We had just brought him home from the airport where he flew in from Puerto Rico.
We have sightings of him from Tuesday 8/22 in Anisquam village. We are working with Animal control and MA missing dogs to try to trap him. He is extremely scared of people and does not know us or our home. I was hoping that you might post something because I know that you have a very large following. I have many flyers in the area but we need as many people as possible to be on the lookout and let us know if they see him and where.
It is extremely important NOT to chase, call, or feed him! We don’t want to scare him and drive him farther away and we want to keep him hungry so that we have a better chance of getting him to go into our trap which is baited with food.
I have attached a picture. He is 20 pounds, small/medium size.Β Please ask people to call me or animal control with any information. Anyone in the Anisquam village area should check their garages, sheds, ect. He is likely hiding out somewhere. But- Do not chase him or feed him.
Thank you sincerely,
Mara Cornetta
