Tropical Storm Irene from Stage Fort Park 08/28/2011

Tropical Storm Irene from Stage Fort Park 08/28/2011

Probably one of the dumbest thing i’ve done. Walked out to the cannons. The trees were being bent over by the wind and the sea spray was washing up to the benches. Approx. wind speed 60mph. After I took a few photos and short video, I was walking back to my car and had to dodge a few flying tree branches. Not to bright but I never pretended to be.

Please remember, I went to the Ed Collard school of Videography.

I think I made him PROUD!

The Ardelle Heads for Safer Waters 08/27/2011 6:25am

I caught the Brand New Pinky Schooner Ardelle in the Annisquam River this morning. I’m guessing it was headed back to where She was Born to stay out of the way of the impending Storm.

Hurricane Irene Claims it’s first Victim

Looks like Hurricane Irene took an extreme turn to the West last night while we we’re all sleeping. Glenn (aka Swimdad) in California,  did’nt heed the warnings and left his boat in the water. Hopefully he can repair it in time For the upcoming Mayor’s Race at the Schooner Fest this year.

Good Luck Glenn!

From Glenn, (aka Swimdad) Former Gloucester Fisherman;

Paul, I  Was on the way to join the GMG Sloop at the schooner fest, but I ran into Mean Irene.  Boats alittle beat up, broke the mast and bow sprit but all hands are fine.

Vintage

This is a vintage early 70′s Phillips 3-speed cruiser. 20 inch frame fits roughly 5’2″-5’7. Made in England. Just tuned up and ready to ride, all three gears work well, Sturmey Archer hub was just oiled. Surface rust but nothing structural – mostly on the chainguard and fenders. This would be a awesome city bike to pick your groceries up in or commute to work or college, and I actually have a few handlebar baskets for pretty cheap if that’s your thing. This is a sweet ride. All it needs is like, some flowers and a small kitten with goggles and a scarf in a basket.

See us at the Cape Ann Farmers Market today at Stage Fort Park. 3pm-6:30pm

LOVE IN THE WILD! SEASON FINALE TONITE! NBC the Gloucester Connection!

My Cousin from the left Coast, Cathy Frontiero Spiro (formally of the Fort!) informs me her Handsome Son Mike (aren’t all Frontiero Men Handsome?) has made it to the Season Finale of “Love in the Wild” http://www.nbc.com/love-in-the-wild/video/season-finale-preview/1347239

Hi, Cousin Paulie–
Tonight is the season finale of ‘Love in the Wild’ (ten pm on NBC) where my son Mike is one of the final contestants.
Hope you get to see this episode.  We are so excited and can’t wait to see the results.  Go Mike and Sam!!

Also, please tell Joey that I loved the new camera’s 16 minute video of his drive from the wharf in E. Glou to Essex –now, how about shooting the same drive from the ‘right’ side of the truck!!? We need fair and balanced coverage. Also appreciated the heartwrenching blog on storm survivor (Cousin Joe Marcantonio, ‘Starbound’) dedicated to our many fishing family and relatives –such a  well-done piece!

Sending some warm rays and good Cali weather to all you right Coasters–
Hugs,
Cousin Cathy from California

Check it out if you have nothing to do on the waterfront tonight!

Plein Air Painting with David Curtis

Plein Air Painting with Artist David Curtis

Last week I noticed about twelve people out in my neighbors yard painting a scene of a beautiful model dressed in white set against their Garden. I asked David if I could take some photos for the blog, he thought that woud be great. and explained how this was a 5 day intensive workshop of “Painting Figures in the Garden”.

David has more workshops planned and he also has a class every Saturday at The Cox Resevation in Essex that is a great deal. Check them out by clicking this link below.
