Yesterday, the Coast Guard Cutter Grand Isle was decommissioned.
Here is her last crew, the decommissioning Plankowners. They will soon be the crew of the Key Largo. ‪#‎ServiceToNation‬

Gloucester will be getting the USCG Cutter Gloucester “KEY LARGO” Within the next couple of weeks!

Just so you Know!

Thanks USCG Gloucester!

Hopefully She will bring in some Tropical Air with Her!

“Our beloved Coast Guard Cutter ‪#‎GrandIsle‬ will be decommissioned tomorrow.
July – September 1996: GI received a CG Unit Commendation for participating in the response to the Trans World Airlines Flight 800 Crash. The plane was on its way to Paris from New York and experienced an explosion 16NM off the coast of Moriches Harbor.”

USCG Pendant Gloucester, Ma In Warmer Times

 USCG Pendant Update

Tuesday the Coast Guard Cutter ‪#‎Pendant‬ started flooding due to a breached hull from all her thick ice-breaking. The crew quickly did damage control, and stopped the leak.

The Massachusetts State Police provided divers to get her back out to sea with less than 24 hours lost. BZ Pendant Crew and Mass State Troopers!

The Pendant was commissioned in August 1963. ‪#‎opRENEW‬ ‪

GLOUCESTER (CBS) – A stranded duck was plucked from the frigid waters of Gloucester after it became tangled in a net and stuck on the ice.

Several Animal Rescue League of Boston members were involved in the rescue, including two who donned cold water suits to rescue the duck.

According to the Animal Rescue League, a rescuer was tethered to shore and made his way out to the duck.

The bird was rescued, and volunteers discovered that it was stuck on the ice because it was “severely tangled” in a net.

 The Wicked Tuna’s “Hard Merchandise”

I caught the Hard Merchandise from the TV Show Wicked Tuna unloading a few Bluefin Tuna at the State fish Pier this Summer. One of the Tv crew members said the shows they’re filming will air in February 2015. So you may get lucky and watch them film on the Gloucester waterfront. The Hard Merchandise has been fishing for years here in Gloucester way before the TV show. They dock at the wharf behind the Madfish Galleries on Rocky Neck. I’m sure all their Fans will enjoy these photo’s. Video’s coming soon.
