Dave Sags Blues Party Tonight ~ With Special Guests Jay Aptt and Forrest Padgett

From Mr. Dave Sags,

I’m assuming and exhuming that we’re playing , so, here goes:  This thursday, the one and only “Blue” Jay Appt, plumbing magnate  and  Duke of Accutane. We’re toddling on the thin crust of the bottomless pit here: let’s hope that the knock on your door is not from the fuller brush man. Jay-Z is the man, having paid his dues with Mikey O’C. and Jack Webb Plumbing. He singhs, he plays gritarrh, grittily, and he’s just plane fungh to be around. Plus his parents are really something to be admired. Hopefully, they’ll be there, too, dancing and helping Jay tie his shoes.
Backing him up will be eine of my faves, Mr. Forrest “Frosty” Padgett, on concussion, skins, and heartbeet. No fool, he. Plays anything, anywhere, and always follows the basest, which means ME. Of course, Greg T. and his whammy bar and grill will be there as well as me, my, my. Ask your doctor if Blooz Party® is right for you. Your results may very….

Food and Music ~ Two great subjects.

Every now and then I get to go to the Fort Square Cafe and this time was one of the best. They had the most delicious omelet on special there called the Idaho Omelet. Talk about tantalizing your taste buds. If I can remember, it has hash browns, bacon, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and scallions wrapped in three eggs. Now I have been told this is what a loaded potato tastes like and all of my life I have chosen not to have one. Mainly because of all the calorie intake with just one vegetable. I just had a taste of this omelet and the rest was brought home for later. The Fort Square Cafe (29 Commercial Street. Gloucester, Ma) has been taken over by a wonderful cook Heidi and she has a coworkers Rusty and Tony and sometimes Christa who use to own and operate the cafe. I have never ever had a breakfast there that I did not absolutely enjoy.
Heidi has to be one of the best cooks around she is very particular and creative. There is something way different in  how she delivers the goods.
During this visit I had the pleasure of meeting Henry Allen  who is very personable and has taken over the Blackburn Theater  (2 Main Street, Gloucester, Ma) Plus he has a band Henry Allen and the New Swingset. Great name for a band. Listen to some of his music. I wonder if you will think the same of who he reminds me of. Very smooth soothing voice. While talking with Henry you could see the light in his eyes and feel the  love for the art. I am so happy that I happened to hear him share the love with others and then with me.

This is another time that I regret not having any kind of camera in my possession.

I went back after  hours and took these with my cell phone.

Fly Amero ~This Saturday, February 5: Cafe Shalom

Hi Folks ~ Want you to know I’ll be at Cafe Shalom this coming Saturday, February 5.  New venue, should be lots ‘o fun.  Details below… ~ Fly

Gloucester, MA – Temple Ahavat Achim, 33 Commercial St. in Gloucester, continues to bring back its popular coffeehouse, Café Shalom, on February 5, from 7:30 to 10:30 PM, with an evening of contemporary acoustic music including folk, blues, rhythm and blues and jazz. Café Shalom will serve hot beverages and snacks. All are welcome; there is no dress or age requirement and families are welcome.  Refreshments will be available.  Admission is $10 at the door, doors open at 7 PM.

Recording artist, Fly Amero will be the featured performer. Left-handed, upside-down guitarist/singer/journeyman Dennis “Fly” Amero finds his musical roots deep within the vast genres of the ’60’s pop revolution. Influences range from Bob Dylan to James Brown to Roy Orbison to Aretha Franklin… and just about everything in between. Fly finds himself onstage as a dynamic solo and frontman performer, and offstage as a writer and record producer.  Fly is currently touring as a member of Orleans and fronts the thrilling rock/blues act known as “The Big Strum”.

The opening act is David Wesson.  David is singer/songwriter Wesson and is the force behind bands The Emergence and The Dark Matters.  He infuses stripped down progressive rock with sounds of the sacred.  Though rooted in American rock forms, his music and lyrics are deeply spiritual and without irony.  Wesson has played at Harper’s Ferry, The Cylcorama at the Boston Center of the Arts, The Middle East, and The Grog.

Café Shalom offers evenings of music in a relaxed coffee house atmosphere with no dress or age requirement.
The doors open at 7, and music begins at 7:30, plenty of free parking.  Call the Temple at 978-281-0739 x11 with questions.

Dave Sags Blues Party ~ Rhumb Line This Thursday 9:00

Thursday9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sags Blues Party

From, Mr. Dave Sag himself,

Many people still enquiring about my hellth, thank you. But I haven’t got any. I’m still suffering from pulmonary symbolism and shortness of pants.  A  dear friend (but a nutcase) recommended I take large doses of that homeopathic standby: Guernica. And even though my girlfriend has been taking it for weeks, she still  hasn’t touched me. Alor!
On other fronts, we have fun for you this week, and dancing, too, as we take Mr. Brad Foucher out of his box and wind him up. You know Brad: that martini proven, hellzapoppin’  Squanto of song, glitarist, and vocalmaster deeluxe.  He’ll be the guy in the corner in the orange jumpsuit.
Behind him, pumping furiously will be Rockport’s answer to Tommy Lee: Mr. Greg Dann, on the skins. Of course, my factotum, Mr. Greg Tower will be there as well as myself. Come early and help us wheel in my iron lung.

Dave Sags Blues Party tonight @ The Rhumb Line with Evan Goodrow

Thursday9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sags Blues Party with special guest Evan Goodrow

From Mr. Dave Sags himself,

Hubba, Hubba,  girls, and those of the female persuasion: he’s back!  He’s escaped the event horizon, eaten ten hits of oxymoron, strapped on his titanium codpiece, and he’s comin’ after you! I’m talking ’bout that pulse racing, rubber-hose wielding divo of rhythm and bliss, Mr. Evan Goodreau. Last seen in these parts a while ago, it’s taken months to wipe the smile offa evrybody’s face. Now, put it back on, cuz he’s comin’ to town and he wants YOU, the viewer to  split your lip in  heavenly ecstacizm and zizz to the loopy beet. Ask your doctor if HonkyJive® is right for you.
Meanwhile, Mr. Gym Gwin, Fred’s brother, will be playin’ the eggbeaters and stirrin’ soup behind him, tryin’ to figger out a way to take K. L. out, or at least expose him as a swish. We know it’s true. THIS IS A DANGEROUS BAND.
Of course Greg T. with his hat, and myself , on base, will attempt the impossible. Do czech it out.
Many busy executives ask me how I can go on and do this “creative” writing every week. I can’t really eggsplain it, but here’ what to do: Make yourself an Ice-cold martini (or three), sit down, and let ‘er rip! Usually works for most authors, so, give it a try. Nothin’ like black and white! Stay tuned!
