Gloucester Stage Raises over $25k for Families of F/V Lily Jean Crew at Sold-Out Benefit Event

Gloucester, MA — Gloucester Stage Company raised more than $25,000 for the families of the F/V Lily Jean crew at a sold-out fundraising event held on April 30 at the Natti-Willsky Performance Center. The evening brought together 172 attendees in a powerful show of support, solidarity, and shared purpose.

Titled We Are at Our Best, When We Face the Worst, the event—sponsored by Applied Materials—featured New York Times bestselling author and journalist Sebastian Junger, who reflected on his own close brushes with death and the importance of community—particularly his connection to Gloucester while researching The Perfect Storm. The evening concluded with an engaging audience Q&A.

All proceeds from the event will directly support the families of the F/V Lily Jean crew.

“Sitting together with the families of the lost while hearing Sebastian speak to what it means to mourn was equally powerful and heartbreaking,” said Producing Artistic Director, Rebecca Bradshaw. “The theatre is not only a place to laugh and share joy, but it is a space to hold community and have hard conversations. This event was about more than raising money– it was about standing together. I am grateful to Gloucester for showing up time and time again for one another.”

The event marks one of Gloucester Stage’s most successful single-night fundraising efforts outside of its annual gala, underscoring the organization’s role as both a cultural anchor and a gathering place for the community.
