Rt. 128 to Rt 1 was slick and slow.

Beautiful new granite benches have been recently installed on each side adjacent to the Fisherman’s Memorial. These benches nicely complement the stunning new planters that were recently unveiled. I noticed the absolute genius in the details of these planters when I was down there recently. Take a minute to sit and enjoy them too! What a beautiful place we live in.

We encourage you to stop by and grab a coffee and pastry at Castaways or Caffe Sicilia or Virgilios or up the street at Sclafanis, or a Power Tea at Shore Nutrition all just steps from our front door. We encourage you to shop at the other great retail shops downtown as well! We hope our spot is a place you feel comfortable stopping by to say hi with a coffee (we also hope you’ll support our business if you like our stuff).
Many people have asked what we will be selling.
Well Pat has an array of Gloucester-centric photography and wares like nightlights, ornaments and more which you can see a preview of at www.patdsphotos.com

I’ll have my Gloucester Apparel line and will be introducing a few new designs on Saturday. https://gloucesterapparel.square.site/

We also plan on randomly broadcasting the livestream from the studio which resides in the heart of Gloucester’s Historic West End in between Caffe Sicilia and The Cave.
Then talk about a plethora of places to eat at our awesome restaurants within a stone’s throw-Beauport’s 1606 Restaurant, Mom’s Kitchen, Tonno, Oak To Ember, Gangnam, Machaca, Minglewood Harborside, Gloucester House, Passports, The Franklin, Bravo, the Pilot House, Kanaka Poke, Breakwater Poke, Two Sisters, the list goes on and on. The point is we’re just another cog in what is already an absolutely awesome downtown scene and we hope to bring even more energy and awareness to the neighborhood!

Winter walk wondering if it will stick to the 1-3″ forecast or not.
photos: Conditions at 4pm Jan 6, 2024. Windy chimes; pretty snow divots dot Long Beach from a brief snow pass earlier in the day (surprise to me because I was thinking conditions would change after midnight); and newish bench at Cape Ann Motor Inn overlook.

If you want to stroll through a significant portion of Gloucester’s social history, do not miss the Above the Fold exhibit running now through March 17 2024 at the Cape Ann Museum. I have always had a special interest in newspapers and photojournalism so this opportunity could not be missed. The curators have done an amazing job culling through the thousands of images and selecting a thorough “slice of life” for several local photojournalists here in Gloucester (though Essex, Rockport and Manchester are not forgotten).
My personal favorite photo is by Josh Reynolds from 1997 from the Schooner Lettie G. Howard during a Mayor’s Cup schooner race. I love that Mr. Reynolds commented that a goal of his was to have one of his photos displayed at the Cape Ann Museum…..wish granted! It was hard to select a favorite there are so many snapshots in time for your consideration.
Remember also there are several ways for you to visit with free admission on Jan 20-21 Gloucester’s So Salty event; First Fridays, Second Saturdays and passes at the Sawyer Free Library. Do it! I don’t think you will be sorry.
