Ronnie’s Liver Transplant Journey

From Ronnie Benjamin:

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. As some of you know, I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer earlier this year. Despite ongoing chemotherapy treatments, colorectal surgery and travelling between some of the best cancer centers in Massachusetts and New York, I was given the grim news, that I am currently no longer a candidate for many of the life saving options available, because of the innumerable tumors throughout my liver. The only chance I have for long-term survival, is to undergo a live liver transplant. This is where someone donates a small portion of their healthy liver, to save my life. This portion of donated liver, will grow into a healthy new liver for me, and the donor’s liver will grow back too! Not able to donate? No problem! There are still many ways to help. Sharing my story/posts on Facebook, liking and commenting on my posts (this helps people see posts more frequently) and using your voice to help spread the word. Your support during this journey to find a donor, could be the life saving gift I desperately need, to grow old with my wife and three boys.

  1. I am so sorry that my age does not qualify to be a donor but I can tell you that I have observed and participated in many live liver transplants and just to not intimidate potential donors…..the part of your liver donated will grow back in less than a month! so please consider helping this young man indeed!!!
