Stage Park before noon 4/22/2023: Dog park clean up was active. Canon status as is. Kids breaking in the street hockey rink.
Link to prior GMG post BEFORE photos through the years of the cannons and site design (incl 1870, 1921, 1930, 1973, and 2019). The cannons were removed for restoration in 2019 from grounds that were restored and completed back in 1973 by the 187th Infantry Brigade– and in time for the city’s 350th celebration. That vision was hoped for over many decades and emulated how the fort looked in the 1700s.

Great turn out for the dedication of the Street Hockey Rink at Stage Fort Park. A big thank you goes out to all the committee member, volunteers, the city of Gloucester, The Boston Bruins and the generous donations of the citizens of Gloucester. It looks so pretty and fun. Ken Knowles, Rockport artist, did an amazing job on the center ice Bruins’ Logo.

“We had a great group of volunteers that came out and worked hard and fast today to collect over 15 bags of trash in a relatively short period of time at the State Fish Pier and at the head of the harbor. For people who want to do their own part and can’t be part of a group cleanup, you can pick up yellow bags at the DPW, collect trash, and report the location of the full bags using the app SeeClickFix.” – Jamie Mathison- One Ocean Shop

We love Cape Ann Pizza on Eastern Ave in Essex especially for lunch but it was a special treat for us to stop by one day while our grandson was visiting. They have perfect kids meal options as well as delicious salads, sandwiches and pizza. Schooner had a hot dog, GMG Jim had a chef salad, I had a meatball sub and our daughter chose Jimmy’s wrap. Her wrap was large enough to bring home for another lunch the next day. The meatball sub is in my top 3 list. They are always friendly and efficient as well as busy.

Join the Businesswomen of greater Cape Ann for the First Annual Swing into Spring Golf Event at the Ipswich Country Club. Start your morning with some general instruction and breakout sessions with the Country Club’s Golf Pros. After a short break for lunch & networking, we will take to the links and play 9 holes of “Best Ball.” A Continental breakfast and a box lunch are included with the fees.
This event is for all levels of players – from first timers to accomplished players. The Pros will be able to help each of us with new skills and techniques. Come for a great day with other women to learn a game that is so important for doing business on the course.
