Hi Joe,

I was hoping you could post about a few things we’re doing! Starting next weekend, we’ll be open to the public on Fridays and Sundays, and by appointment only the rest of the week. We’ll be having a 15% off Valentine’s jewelry sale the first two weeks of February, and will also be offering a 20% discount (excluding jewelry) to event planners this winter. I’ve included some jewelry photos (nothing new, sorry!) as well as David’s favorite store photo to go with the post offering the event planning discount.

SeniorCare’s Annual Valentines Breakfast Fundraiser Goes Virtual

SeniorCare Inc. will hold its annual Valentine’s Day Breakfast Fundraiser online in 2022. Between now and February 14, donors can provide a local homebound elder with a Valentine, while providing critical financial support to the Meals on Wheels home-delivered meals program. On February 14, a special video photo montage will be posted showing images from past breakfasts held at The Gloucester House in downtown Gloucester.

SeniorCare’s Meals on Wheels program brings a daily meal to the door of homebound elders, Monday through Friday.Menus are designed by nutrition experts to meet the needs of older adults and are prepared by a professional caterer.In addition, homebound elders have a daily interaction with the delivery team—sometimes their only human contact that day. SeniorCare serves lunch to more than 700 elders each day through the home-delivered meals program. Annually, this means 182,000 meals served throughout SeniorCare’s service area of Beverly, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich…

Clos-du-Mont-Olivet Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Blanc 2020, Alc. 13.5, Varietals: mostly Clairette 40%, Roussanne 30% + other So. Rhone varietals, Tasting: Enticing, with light brioche and macadamia nut notes leading off, while white peach, salted butter, acacia and heather hints fill in throughout….bright acidity of the vintage. The long finish is inlaid with an accent of wet stone. Eola Hills Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, OR, 2018, Alc. 13.4% Varietals: Pinot Noir, Tasting: The color is a delight, see-thru garnet red. The nose is red berries and rich spice, French vanilla, sour cherry, and faint chocolate. This is a silky smooth, lively  Pinot Noir. A lot of flavor is packed in here— makes for a great everyday Pinot. Pairs Well: smoked salmon on a bed of rice, sprinkled with red wine vinegar, black pepper and dill….also, veal, game (deer, venison), Ratings: Wine Enthusiast 90… $21.99

Domaine des Marechaux, Famille Mingot, Bordeaux Supérieur, 2019, Alc. 13.5%, Varietals: Merlot, Tasting: Smooth, fruit-filled, all-Merlot claret from a small family estate on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Deep ruby in the glass. Ripe red berries, cherries,
plum, with a hint of cedar, silky smooth, with pleasing weight and roundness Pairs Well: grilled ribeye, venison, veal. grilled duck breast…$14.99

Sono Montenidoli ll Garrulo, Chianti Colli Senesi, Tuscany, It., 2018, DOCG, Alc. 13%, Varietals: Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano, Malvasia – organic farming, women owned! Tasting: Clear medium ruby color. Clean, developing, medium intensity nose with notes of red cherry, raspberry, mushroom and new leather. Dry, full body, medium alcohol, medium tannins and balanced acidity. Great Meal at Happy Humpback Cafe

We decided to give the newly opened Happy Humpback Cafe on Lexington Ave in Magnolia a try the other day. Jim got a breakfast sandwich–the Half Moon; and I tried the Italian Grinder. Breakfast and lunch are each served all day, which solves an issue for Jim and I! Counter service is efficient, seating is comfortably arranged, and all needs seem to be anticipated with available condiments etc. Follow them on Instagram or Facebook.
