I had a really nice afternoon at Myopia yesterday for the Governor’s Cup. It really is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Polo takes place Sunday at 3:00 until October 3rd.

Margarita Monday at Topside Grill

During the summer, we like to celebrate Margarita Monday at different establishments around town. The idea is to try new margarita recipes in local places. Last week we went to the Topside Grill on Rogers Street for a late lunch. It was Monday, so………Margarita Monday with the Topside traditional margarita. I had the meatball app and GMG Jim tried the bacon wrapped scallops. Relaxing and delicious. Perfect for a Monday afternoon. Cheers!

Other parts of the country have it hotter, but we have the humidity too.

Hopeless heat on the deck last week
But there were ways to cool off
A nice repurposing of a tugboat
An impressive visiting yacht, escorted by schooner Adventure
Thomas E Lannon and Adventure on their third cruises of the day
It’s always nice to cross tacks with Lannon in the harbor; cool and windy yesterday
We retained power during two hurricane warnings, but may lose to the Tree Swallows
One Mourning Dove stood his ground (wire) – “I got here first”
Mass Audubon said the swallows were gathering to migrate south. Haven’t left yet.
A hint of fall. A beautiful leaf Anne-Lise picked up.

Tomorrow Iain and I will be hanging our biggest exhibit yet – all 36 portraits and essays at the Salem State University Berry Library. The public is welcome during library hours from Sept 1st through November 30th. Attached is a flyer you’re welcome to share.

Knob & Tube is an old wiring we find in homes. It was generally installed from the 1880’s to the 1940’s. Many people have heard about this wiring, and maybe have even seen it, but may not fully understand what it is or what it means to be present in your home. The wiring was ungrounded and had a hot and neutral wire running independently. The knobs were used to change direction and the tubes would insulate the wires when going through wood and other building materials. It may seem like it’s not too dangerous, the wires are separated, and it has been in your home for typically at least a hundred years right! So, what makes it something you should worry about?
