Lane’s Cove Seawall Appeal Successful, Over $1.3 Million in Support for Critical Repairs Expected Through FEMA
Additional EEA State Matching Funds Pursued to Earn Additional $2.2 Million
(Gloucester, MA) – August 15, 2016 – The City of Gloucester has successfully won an appeal to support restorative work at Lane’s Cove Breakwater with an estimated total of $1,356,195 expected to be received from MEMA (Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency).
“We are grateful that the city’s appeal was successful in order to gain the necessary funds for the critical needs at Lane’s Cove Seawall,” said Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken. “Our city needs help from our state and federal partners to ensure we have safe infrastructures, and this appeal shows we are continuing to fight for results.”

This is great news the left side has been down for some time now but one thing for sure remembered for is the amazing beauty by when you get a nor’easter mother nature is hard to hold back behind the wall. If I remember 1991 was a real bad one the perfect storm and had quite a few bad ones after. But it also shows the true grit of those who weathered the storms.
Word of advice from a young lad who got up into a willow tree at the age of 10 during high winds don’t do it literally knock the wind out of you from 15 -20 feet up! Luckily it was just the wind knocked out of us! And the cove and around the rocks were off limits for a reason – ride the storm out form safety if possible…
Glad to see this the left side Duly street side and bonfire side needs some (TLC).
