I actually bought some old Gloucester postcards off of ebay. I got some of the old hotels that aren’t around anymore (Moorland, Hawthorne, Delphine), City Hall, and more. I hadn’t see these before and love them!

The old post office on Post Office Square was on the corner of Pleasant and Main. The building was rebuilt and became Woolworth’s and is now Magic Scarf/Action/ Art Haven. I loved going in there in the spring to see the baby chicks for sale in the basement 🙂 The building was and is attached to the WG Brown building which housed Brown’s Department Store, one of the first department stores in the nation.A book could be written about Brown’s!
The Savoy was one a few hotels on the east end of Main Street, Water Street, Rogers Street. The Savoy was more/less across from Michel’s Diner that is now Supreme Roast Beef. Kind of in Walgreens/Dunkin parking lot- where A&P used to be. The actual street it was on isn’t there any longer. I’m showing my age…!
