Who Are They Kidding? Phony Environmentalism

These little placards are now in most hotel room bathrooms.  Wouldn’t you have way more respect for them if they just said we want to try to save labor cost and time by not having to wash your dirty towels instead of trying to play the “We care about the environment card”?

Gloucester At Dawn- Dragger Elizabeth Covered In Ice

See the ice making horizontal icicles from the wind on the way back from fishing.  I sure hope all that ice was made when they were done on deck and sipping on some hot coffee in the pilot house for the ride home.

Aaron Burke Sent Me This

I doubt he created it and I have no idea who to credit other than Aaron for forwarding it to me.  Don’t mess with this Homie!  Aaron dis a lot of work to help with the Tree Project.

The Mrs Reading

The Mrs did a ton of reading.  The particular book she was engrossed in came highly recommended and people were stopping her in the airport to ask about it. She’s reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle By David Wroblewski

Travel Rant- Checked Bag Fees

As someone who considers himself a travel information nut, I was surprised that I didn’t know anything about the new checked bag fee being charged by many airlines.

We flew American Airlines and it cost us $15 for each of us, each way for a total of $60 on top of the price of out airline tickets.  To me that is completly  ridiculous!   There was no mention of it when I was booking my flights but people should be well aware that some airlines do not charge these fees and when comparing prices to decide which airline to fly take it into consideration.

The Wall Street Journal has a chart and story about it that you can read by clicking this text

So as of now Southwest and Jet Blue are the only ones not charging a fee for that first checked bag.  Give em your business I say and remember when researching flights to add in the cost of those other airlines to get a true representation of the costs.  Rat Bastards!

Old School Kicks never Looked Like This

While walking down Lincoln Road and Washington Street in South Beach there were many places selling sneakers like this.

I went in to snap some pictures and the young salesman asked me which pair I wanted to try on.   I told him I wasn’t interested and if the kids were buying these funky sneakers.  He replied that these sneakers were bringing it back “Old School”.  To which I told him that old school kicks never looked like that and in fact if you ever showed up wearing those things you’d get your ass handed to you back in the day.

From Steve-

“Hi Joey,

As promised, here is a shot of me representing.  I was in Monterey, California shooting the local wildlife.  Here I am with a Brown Pelican that was hanging out at a fish cleaning station on Fisherman’s Wharf.  In the background is a trawler, just a reminder of how important Monterey was as a fishing port.  I was asking what the local fish was at a restraint.  The “local” fish was Alaskan halibut. “
