Chickity Check It- Community Preservation Act

As you may or may not have noticed, I try not to get political on the pages of GMG.   That is because as I see it many people just can’t seem to deal with alternative political viewpoints and I don’t need folks hating on me if they happen to disagree on a particular issue.

These pages are for positive energy.

That being said I would like to share with you all something that people really ought to investigate as it WILL impact you and I feel COULD impact us all in a very favorable way.

First off here is the website that will give you the facts- Community Preservation Act Website

Some points that stuck out to me-

The median house value  in Gloucester is $385,580.  The owner of that home would pay $2.28 per month for the CPA and that is less than a large cup of coffee at Dunkies.

The money will be matched at 75%  by the state and there is no where else that our tax dollars can get that kind of return.

The money would be used for such projects as restoring City Hall, School infrastructure, preserving open space and a myriad of other worthy causes.

Listen, I’m not telling you what to do.   All I’m asking is for you to visit the website, inform yourself about what it’s all about and then make a decision for yourself.

If you have any other questions please contact these folks, I’m sure they would love to explain it to you-

Sandy Dahl Ronan, Chairperson
Kathy Leahy, Treasurer

  1. I know that this could NEVER happen, but could you imagine that trends continue for the wetfish industry in Gloucester and that property owners like yourself who try to react, as you should be able to, and propose mixed use for property that your family has owned for generations, are fought by groups using funding from the CPA…Naaaah that could never happen…should I use your usual ending of LOL? OH I’m sorry reality probably isn’t POSITIVE enough for you DUDE!
