$100,000 outright NEH grant awarded to MA Center for Independent Documentary for Walking Cinema and 15 other projects in Massachusetts

The awarded project “Walking Cinema: Museum of the Hidden City” is headed by Michael Epstein, Untravel Media. You can see more about their work at www.walkingcinema.org including the one that is part of the Gloucester HarborWalk designed by Cambridge Seven Associates, and earned a 2013 Gold Muse Award from the American Alliance of Museums. Epstein also produced an audible original podcast, “Pen and Place”. Congratulations!

It’s coming! Here’s your annual chance to check out two weekends of 150+ FREE events throughout Essex County, September 18-20 and 25-27.

The schedule can change with new and wonderful additions, but as of today here are some public art and other highlights in Gloucester.

Gloucester HarborWalk: three self-guided walking tours including some new selfie postcard fun for the mini trail mobile tour. Also new for 2015, the HarborWalk historic exhibit along Fisherman’s Wharf by Latitude 43.

The 2013 MUSE award winners were announced during the American Alliance of Museums’ massive annual conference. (Here’s more about that org and its conference:  http://www.aam-us.org/events/annual-meeting)

It’s so great to see all the projects. Check ‘em out! Congratulations Gloucester, Maritime Gloucester, Cambridge Seven Associates and Untravel Media.

Speaking of awards, another fun recognition for the HarborWalk was for a Golden Shoe Award, for the “City of Gloucester creatively getting Gloucester Walking”, presented 3.20.13. From Steve Winslow, Senior Project Manager Community Development,  “Every year WalkBoston recognizes communities that are making “major strides” to improve conditions for walking which is a wonderful endorsement of the great work around the HarborWalk, city planning, and community development.”

Cape Ann Museum, Gloucester Lyceum & Sawyer Free Library, Beauport, Sargent House Museum, Good Morning Gloucester (and GMG contributors!) and other local media, and so many other Gloucester partners collaborated in the process of creating content for the story moments and the mobile site and links.
