Mad Hot Ball!

All the fifth-graders in the city learned ballroom dancing through a grant. The girls were adorable and the boys…well, they all made it through it. A few boys actually got into it! The kids danced the waltz with their parents staring at their feet trying not to step on any toes!

Click on the photo above for more photos from the Ball!

One of 48!

Grandkid #4 and I planted 48 bulbs last fall. To our surprise the all came up! They’re starting to fade away. Such a short life…. BUT that makes room for more!! Some are in my tomato bed. Can I plant around the bulbs? Or should I move them until the fall? Thanks in advance!—Sharon

Art Haven Bird Houses at the Home and Garden Show

Ashley Muise with her grandma Vickie Morgan painted birdhouses at the Art Haven table this weekend. Good to see you both!

Working on the Desk

We did some research on the desk that I bought a couple of weeks ago. It is a Governor Winthrop as many of you identified and was probably built in the 1920’s.  Because it is not in its original state, it has lost its value other than as a nice piece of furniture.

So we began sanding the part that had filler, but found that the wood grain in that area is vertical instead of horizontal like the rest of the surface. I’m not sure how to recreate the grain so that the wood will be somewhat uniform for staining.

Any ideas? Thanks!           —–Sharon

Another Where Zat Clue

Joey guessed “somewhere in Essex” which is correct. So where in Essex is it?

(This video was done with my new camera. Not bad. Except for my shaky hands!)

Here’s the first clue.

Walker Creek Mirage

It took me several minutes to figure out how I got this image.  There’s no Photoshop involved or any other manipulation. It’s right out of the camera. Any guesses? I’ll give a hint later.
