NBC's "71st Annual Golden Globe Awards" - ArrivalsCate Blanchett in Armani Couture

Daughter Liv and I watched together the Golden Globes Red Carpet last night–via texting–she in Brooklyn and me in Gloucester. Cate Blanchett, winner of best actress in a motion picture drama, and Margot Robbie won hands hands down for best dressed!

Cate’s Armani dress was made from the most exquisitely delicate black lace you could possibly imagine, with subtle shimmer sprinkled throughout. From the front view, I loved the dramatic contrast of the high neck and then softly flowing lower skirt; the sparkles caught the light when she walked–and the back was equally as stunning!

What is Your Favorite Nelson Mandela Quote?

Google “Nelson Mandela Quotes.” There are hundreds of inspirational quotes from Mandela. What words of wisdom from this greatest of men inspires you? Answer if you would like in the comment section. A quote that I read on many sites that particularly resonates with me is the following:

“I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.”

And another:

“A fundamental concern for others in our individual and community lives would go a long way in making the world the better place we so passionately dreamt of.”

One more:

“I like friends who have independent minds because they tend to make you see problems from all angles.”

GMG post from Greg Bover, submitted June 2013:

Nelson Rolihlala Mandela Quote Of The Week

Proof of the goodness within us all

If you’re wondering where to find proof of the goodness deep within us all; proof that the human spirit shines through the darkness; look no farther than your own heart.  Recall how you felt when you heard, yesterday, that Nelson Mandela is dead.  You can’t quite put your finger on it, can you?  It’s just a hole in your heart.

Nearly every world leader from politicians to tycoons to top artists in every field jumped into social media within minutes of hearing the news to laud Mandela as one of the greatest people who ever lived.

Hundreds gathered, in the middle of the night, outside Mandela’s home to pay their respects to the icon of peace and reconciliation.

Every one of us can recognize goodness when we see it.  That’s the proof.

FOB Greg Bover chose a wonderful, inspiring quote from Nelson Mandela this past June.  Check out that post and resolve that today, as you mourn the passing of perhaps the greatest man, with whom you had the honor to share this planet, you will no longer settle for “a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”
