Don Lodge-Lobstermen Truck Series

Donny poses with his brand new titanium Dodge Heavy Duty Pickup truck.

Donny is a teacher and administrator at the Calvary Chapel Baptist Church. He teaches 7th and 8th grade. After Donny is done with his responsibilities at the Church, he goes lobstering.

If you would have seen Donny’s old truck you would know what a huge step up this brand new baby is. His old truck was costing him as much in monthly repairs as the payments on this beautiful new Dodge.

Donny’s lobsterboat is named the Le La Lo Da. He came up with the name after the phonetically sounding out the first syllable of his kid’s names. Lisa, Laura, Donna, and David.

Congrats on the new truck Donny. If anyone deserves it, it’s you.

Don Lodge -Lobstermen Truck Series

Notice Don has a spray in bed liner for his brand new Dodge. It is a $400 option and it is what we put on our trucks.

It isn’t the same type of spray in liner like the ones they used to put in trucks. the rhino spray in liners are more rubbery and tended to fade over time.

The newer spray in liners harden and won’t tear like the older rubbery ones.

Good Choice Don

Eric and I like to joke with each other that we have nineheads.

Most people have foreheads, but big ugly guys like us have huge nineheads.

Would you just look at the space between his eyebrows and his hairline?

You could plaster a billboard up there.

Unfortunately for me, my ninehead is even bigger.

Once you shuck your lobsters, place the lobstermeat in the fridge to cool.

Ingredients For The Worlds Greatest Lobster Roll

Has to be Cains mayo, and hot dog rolls so you can grill them to a golden brown with the salted butter.

Notice there is no lettuce, paprika, celery or any other filler. If anything else appears in your lobster roll, you have an inferior lobster roll.

steam the lobsters and shuck the meat

tear the meat into 1/2 inch chunks or so and mix with cains mayo

refrigerate

once lobster and mayo is chilled, butter each side of cheap hot dog rolls (the kind you tear apart)

you do not want to use any goddamn baguette or crusty overpowering roll

you want white bread tear apart soft hot dog rolls

once you butter the sides of the hot dog rolls with SALTED butter you pan brown the roll so its warm and golden brown

just barely browned but the roll should still be very soft

then load up your cool lobster/mayo filling into the warm soft buttery roll and you have yourself the perfect lobster roll

note- NO  LETTUCE- NO  CELERY-NO  PAPRIKA- NO FANCY CRUSTY FRENCH ROLL

Rosa Rugosa Report- Good Harbor

Rosa Rugosa Report- Good Harbor, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

The Rosa Rugosa that lines the shore road by the footbridge at Good Harbor Beach is starting to sprout it’s foliage.

It is quite a contrast between the bright green oily foliage and the thorny dry stems that support them.

It won’t be long before they are covered with green and the beautiful roses appear.

I’ll be documenting this particular bush’s development this year from dormant through the foliage, flowering, and then the fruit bearing stage.
