Have you picked apples this year?
I don’t know what happened to supermarket apples, but they don’t have one tenth of the flavor as the one’s that you pick at the orchards. The Mrs hasn’t made apple crisp yet, but I’m craving it- with some vanilla bean ice cream!

Snoop Maddie Mad is extremely independent and stubborn. Case in point this weekend at Appleton Farms. The Mrs tells me that once she picked out her own pumpkin she wouldn’t let anyone else touch it or carry it. She was determined to carry it herself. All day.
The Mrs tells me she must have dropped it a hundred times, but every time someone else tried to help her she threw a fit because she wanted to carry it herself. And so it went. Ten steps and a dropped pumpkin. Pick it up and another ten steps or so. Drop. Pick it up. Repeat.
She’s a maniac.

Details to follow at noon.
While at The Cape Ann Farmer’s Market on Harbor Loop I picked up this lobster baby t shirt for Snoop Mad. They didn’t have one in The Bean’s size or I would have got a matching one for her too.

Madeline uses five spoons to eat her two different flavors of ice cream.
A warning- Do NOT try to take one of those spoons away.
You think the ice cream will melt down quickly on a hot August afternoon? You just watch how quickly sweet little Snoop Mad will melt down if you take one of those five spoons away.
My cousins agreed to pitch in and donate a bench in honor of our grandparents who spent a great deal of time at Stage Fort Park. Our grandparents lived on Tolman Ave where my Grandfather had a nice view of the boats coming and going from the harbor.
I saw the newspaper clipping from the ceremony just last night where they talked about the unveiling of the plaque. In the paper it sounded like the plaque in honor of my grandparents was only donated by the children of my parents (meaning my sister and I), but it was donated by all of my grandparent’s grandchildren including my cousins Larry, Joey and Cosimo Marcantonio and Frankie and my cousin Licia Trupiano.

The Bean had her first Swatting at Imaginary Butterflies lesson yesterday.
I’d call it a tennis lesson but she probably inadvertantly hit more imaginary butterflies than tennis balls.
I call ’em like I see ’em. Hopefully I’ll never be one of those parents that walks away from something like that and tell all my friends and relatives how my children are really advanced for their age.
I like to joke with people that my girls are 150th percentile at stuff and then look for the reactions as they try to figure out what that means.
Like after a doctors visit my mom will ask how it went and I’ll tell her that the Bean is 150th percentile for math reasoning. I’m not sure if she knows if I’m kidding or not, but it’s really just a jab at all those obnoxious parents that blabber on and on about their average children as if they were superstars.
Took my girls to Stone Soup on Lobster Cove yesterday morning. It was windy as hell but hat a beautiful spot.
They have a limited menu which didn’t include my favorite the Merry Breakfast Sandwich, but the home made corned beef hash was very very good. Pricing was a little on the high side but the location and setting more than make up for it.
The coffee was great too. My pal Toby tells me they brew RAO coffee.

Felicia brought this artistic masterpiece. It was a nice contrast to the heavy grill food.

Cousin Amandacakes got The Bean her first tennis racket for her third birthday. She didn’t take the backpack off all day til she crashed leter in the evening.

What’s better than getting that nice warm bread before your meal at Joe’s American Bar and Grill?
Getting it and breaking it with friends and family, that’s what!
They ought to set up a little corner by the entranceway to Joe’s in the Northshore Mall where you could get that bread to go. I swear I’d pay $10 a loaf.

Who ever heard of Garlic Scape? Not me until the Mrs came home from the farm with a bunch to make garlic scape pesto.
Apparently they cut the to stems off the garlic which is called garlic scape in June so the garlic will continue to grow. She’s going to get some French bread and cut it and toast it so we can spread the garlic scape pesto on it.
