EJ is close to 50% being funded for her book

Update #4: Nearly at 50% with 13 days to go!

Posted 1 day ago

There are 13 days to go and the project is now just under 50% funded.  A very exciting pledge was made today for $1,500 with the reward of being the character to return to Bong Tree Island with Martine Bates in the sequel to save the inhabitants of Bong Tree Island.  The identify of this backer will remain a secret until the campaign is successfully completed (although they may have to remain unidentified until the sequel is complete).

Again, if you have friends that you think would like to help back the Tales of Bong Tree Island project, please forward to them with your most excited, effusive endorsement, like: “This project is amazing and incredibly creative, I backed it and I think you should consider backing it too”.  The time is getting close now and we’ve come too far to not succeed.

Thanks for all your help and support.  Best, EJ, Martine and everyone on Bong Tree Island

GMG Question and Answers- EJ Khan

Yep, our own EJ Khan gets into the act-

How long have you lived in Gloucester?  Since September 15 (about 5-1/2 months)

What is your favorite season In Gloucester?
living here I’ve only fully experienced fall and winter, and have enjoyed both; but summer is definitely my favorite season.

Do you have any secret outdoor spots in Gloucester where you go to “get away”?
Cambridge Beach at low tide when I can climb up onto the rocks overlooking Wingaersheek Beach, Ipswich Bay and Annisquam Light.
What is your favorite pizza joint in Gloucester?  I haven’t had pizza in Gloucester yet, so can’t say

What is your favorite sub shop in Gloucester?
  I seldom eat subs

What place would you go for a romantic dinner in Gloucester?
The Market Restaurant on Lobster Cove

What is your favorite bar in Gloucester?  I don’t generally go to bars.

What is your favorite breakfast joint in Gloucester?
 Willow Rest

What is your favorite local event in Gloucester? So far, the Rocky Neck Plunge, but I haven’t been here long enough or experienced enough to have a favorite.
In the summer do you prefer the beach or to be on a boat? Beach
Who is your favorite local artist? I love Sharon Lowe’s photography, Paul Frontiero’s rocks, Manny Simoes videos, and Brian O’Connor’s photography to name a few.  To me, artist denotes musician, painter, sculptor, photographer, videographer, actor, poet and more, so it is difficult, if not impossible, to come up with a single favorite.  As an old Master Gloucester artist, I love Fitz Hugh Lane’s work.

Which is your favorite local beach? Lighthouse Beach
Who has the best chowder in town? Haven’t tried enough places to say, but for my taste, probably me.

Excluding GMG what is your second favorite local blog?  Don’t get to spend much time exploring other blogs, but do enjoy Kim Smith’s

Do you prefer haddock chowder or clam chowder?   I like clam chowder with haddock or cod.  Or fish chowder with clams and shrimp.  Or corn chowder with shrimp and lobster.   I generally make my own, so can have it however I want it.  Plain old haddock chowder or clam chowder don’t excite me that much.

What is your favorite Gloucester neighborhood?  Annisquam so far, since it where I live and have gotten to know the best.  I like Rocky Neck alot too, but also really like the Main Street of Gloucester, and the working fishing port section, although that’s not really a neighborhood.

What is your favorite local band? since I don’t go to bars, and the performances I have gone to weren’t local artists, I haven’t gotten to hear any local bands yet.

EJ KHAN! GMG’s NEW AUTHOR

I talked with Joey down at the dock this morning to find out who this “EJ” was.

Of course he was no help at all. So I checked out her bio and thought I would post it so everyone would know who she is. It’s hard for some of us to explain who we are and why we want to share the Beauty of Cape Ann with all of you. Some of us are shy and humble to be a part of this exploding blog that GMG is. so here’s a little of EJ’s  bio.

    E.J.

    Gloucester, MA

Artist, researcher, spiritual traveler of this fascinating orb we inhabit, lover of life and all it has to offer.
Hi everyone out there in GMG land. My name is Ellen “E.J.” Lefavour (a/k/a “Ejay Khan” – the pseudonym I used during my years as a political activist artist). I am a newcomer to Cape Ann, and thrilled to be a new contributor to Good Morning Gloucester. I am a painter and photographer who has lived and worked as an artist for 20 years, since leaving the corporate world in 1990 to pursue my passion. My contributions to GMG will consist of images (either my paintings, photographs, or the occasional video) and a little history about the image, called “Did you Know?” I hope to come up with tidbits of information that people don’t already know, or had forgotten they knew. As I am new here, everything is new and fascinating to me, especially the amazing history, so bear with me if I post something that is common knowledge – I’ll eventually come up with something that’s new to you. Please take a minute to comment on my posts, like them or not, especially if you have corrections or something to add, as that is how I, and all of us, learn. Have a Good Morning Gloucester, and a blessed day.
