I like playing with the other pups here at the Cape Ann Animal Aid (CAAA), located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter in Gloucester.   I weight about 32-pounds, so I will be medium when I am all grown up.   If you would like to know more about me, see photos and learn more about the CAAA please visit: CapeAnnAnimalAid.com

I am looking forward to joining you at obedience class and for adventure outdoors.   I like all the trails and all the wonderful things they have outdoors here at the shelter.  I am so excited about finding a home and a family to love me, well, I get to the point where I can’t even sleep and when I do sleep, I dream about a family spoiling me…I just want my dreams to come true.  Just by looking at me you can tell I am going to be a great dog!

Pet of the Week- Chester

Chester

Hello, my name is Chester, I am a five-year-old male Retriever/Golden mix.   I am at the Cape Ann Animal Aid (CAAA), located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter in Gloucester.   A few things to know.   I do like to chew a lot so I am learning to practice carrying a toy or ball around so I don’t get tempted to nibble on other things like my leash. I am a very smart and love to learn new things. I am happiest when with humans.  I do not like cats or dogs – kind of scared, so I am looking to be your one and only.  I am a special needs adoption because I have a heart murmur. The staff arranged for a consult with a vet and I even had an echo-cardiogram and ultrasound and the doctors said I will not require any medicine or extra treatment and I should have a normal lifestyle.  But the way, I just turned five, so it isn’t too late to have a birthday party for me!

Pet of the Week-Big Kitty

Big Kitty

Hello!  My name is Big Kitty, I am part Norwegian Forest.  I am a happy and mellow guy.  I like napping and playing with toys.  I am not so sure about the other cats yet, but my friends here at the Cape Ann Animal Aid said that I am learning to make new friends and those little things; I think they are called kittens.   I love attention and can’t wait to be adopted so I can curl up in a lap.   When the veterinarian did my check-up, they found I have a heart murmur.  My doctor didn’t recommend any treatment right now, but I may need more vet care and monitoring in the future.

If you think we would be a good match, why don’t you stop down to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter in Gloucester and we talk about how I can fit into your life and make you happier.  Also, I love the Red Sox and will you please wear some Red Sox gear when you come to adopt me so I may recognize you right away!

Pet of the Week-Cutter

Cutter, adopt, dog, cape ann animal aid

Hi!  My name is Cutter and I am handsome yellow lab pup who is one.  I am very sweet and affectionate and can’t wait to be adopted.  I like to walk and play in the back yard with the great staff here at the Cape Ann Animal Aid, located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter in Gloucester.   I am an adult rescue so I am looking for a home with older, calmer children or adults.

I have been asked to tell you about the Blessing of the Animals.   It will be held rain or shine on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. at Millbrook Meadow in Rockport in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.   The Rev. Karin E. Wade, rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church invites all Cape Ann pets to this short, ecumenical service.  Animals should be on a leash, lead or in a cage or carrier.  A donation will be taken to benefit the Cape Ann Animal Aid.  Please adopt me and bring me to the blessing!

I hope Cutter is adopted soon! It looks like he needs someone to play football with in the backyard.

Pet of the Week- Margaret

margaret

My name is Margaret – the pup in the middle!  I am being held by my good friend Jeff Hobbs who is a volunteer at the Cape Ann Animal Aid (CAAA), located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter in Gloucester.

I went to “Dog Day” with Jeff, held recently at Stage Fort Park, and we met some new friends – (L to R) Adam Madruga, Rachel Ketchopulos (seated) and Lauren O’Connor, all of Rockport.

I am not ready for adoption yet,  I arrived at CAAA and I am now in foster care. I was born with a birth defect that left me without a paw on my left hind leg.  While I can still bare some weight on it, doing this for too long will cause me pain and chronic infections, so I will soon have my leg amputated to ensure the best possible future for me. After my surgery I will be all set for a long and happy life, but first I need to have my surgery, recuperate and then I will be ready for loving home and family.

If you would like to make a donation to help me and other special needs animals like me, please send your check to Cape Ann Animal Aid, Four Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA and checks payable to Cape Ann Animal Aid and write “Margaret” in the memo.

If you have any questions or would like to make a donation on-line, please visit CapeAnnAnimalAid.com or contact Rebecca at 978-283-6055, ext. 23.
“Dog Day” was so much fun – thank you to the many people who attended! Jeff and I met so many new friends!
