Essex Scarecrow Map

I love this annual tradition. The Essex Scarecrow building tradition is in full swing. You can click on this map and see where they are to take a drive and view them all. Much thanks to everyone who plays along and takes the time to pick up supplies and build one of these excellent scarecrows for others to enjoy.

Update on Previous Mobil Station on Essex Ave

Many of you have noticed the property at 65-73 Essex Ave in Gloucester has been closed and actions have been taken to begin renovations as you see here. We understand that Fresh Fields Gloucester LLC will be opening up a new Reverie 73 dispensary after razing the two existing buildings. Previously released information indicated this property would retain the gas station and convenience store and we don’t have updated information on that to this point. You can learn more about Reverie 73 here.

Don’t Let Us Win Today…

A mystery dahlia Question Submitted By Joan DeRosa

Last week, on a blustery morning I spotted this dahlia along the harbor walk in Gloucester but the name was missing. As you van see, I was only able to get a rear view, but even that was gorgeous. I would like to know its name.

Autumn Canvas — pat morss

We’re getting some beneficial rain. Fall colors are now more than dry, brown leaves.

Color and shadow composition on a stone wall
Maple leaves are among the earliest to turn
Rain intensifies color
Some colors are subtle, here surrounding turtles on Niles Pond
The brightest colors can be berries rather than leaves
This House Finch travels with his own spot of color

Swirls of color near the rocks in the afternoon

Wood for a cause

Hi, Joey!

I am writing to ask if you can post info about our second annual fundraising effort for Cape Ann Animal Aid.

My husband Bob is selling split firewood for $300/cord. You pickup, no delivery. 100% of the proceeds go to Cape Ann Animal Aid. Here is a link from their website: https://www.capeannanimalaid.org/uploads/1/0/6/7/106722865/social_square__25_.png

Contact Bob for info at 978-325-1765. We have about 7 cords left, we will sell full or half cord only. We were able to donate approximately $3,000 last year!

Thanks for any help you can give!
