Gloucester 400+ will present the Indigenous Heritage Film Festival from Oct 9-14th. YOU are invited and encouraged to attend. From Stan Franzeen:

Dear friends and colleagues, 

You are invited to the first-ever Indigenous Heritage Film Festival scheduled for October 9-14, 2023, in conjunction with Gloucester 400+ in Cape Ann, Massachusetts. This unique cinematic event celebrating the Indigenous history and cultural contributions of Cape Ann and North America’s earliest inhabitants takes place on the unceded lands of Pawtucket and other Indigenous Peoples.

  • The IHFF aims to engage, educate, entertain, and motivate audiences using a combination of film genres, stories, talkbacks, and Q&As with some of our feature artists/producers.
  • Festival films are culturally, artistically, and socially sensitive productions by or about Indigenous Peoples.
  • All events are FREE, with reservations suggested.

We ask you to review and share information about the IHFF with your community members, families, and friends.

Our annual Lanesville Music Festival has been postponed to a later date. Stay tuned for more info! TBD

Friends, families, neighbors and curious strangers will gather – Rain or Shine – to hear favorite local performers sing and play their hearts out for the hometown crowd 🎵

  • Admission to the Festival is by “pay-what-you-can” donation to the LCC. Everyone who donates is eligible to win door prizes, including a special drawing for folks who arrive early at the festival, before 12:30pm.
  • Be prepared to have lunch or snack all day!Lanesvillain dogs and burgers will be available for purchase along with chili and fun food truck choices like Hawaiian poke, crepes, tarts, and Cape Ann Ferments. Beer, wine, hard cider and non alcoholic drinks are also available.
  • ‘23 Music Fest tshirts and all of your favorite Lanesvillain gear (plus new car decals and baseball hats) will be there for purchase as well!
  • There will also be a “Name the Cow” mascot contest and a mystery performer. Who is excited?!

Googans Galley in Essex Is a Great Spot

We took a ride to Essex and stopped in at Googans Galley on Martin St because we hadn’t been there in a while. What a fun assortment of refrigerated goods, baked goods, local products (including Cape Ann Sea Salt) and other items! The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. The outside has recently received an uplift. Well worth a stop if you’re in Essex! We left with some baked goods and sweet treats.

          This Sat. Sept 9/23 from 11-2:00 PM, Cape Ann Animal Aid is having their Annual Rescue Reunion! They have graciously agreed to let us have a soft serve ice cream truck parked at the entrance of the Gloucester Dog Park! Check out the Rescue Reunion and then walk across the street and treat yourself and your dog to a sweet ice cream treat. For a $10.00 suggested donation you will get a soft serve ice cream cone, or cup for you, and a “Pup Cup” for your dog! And everyone who donates gets a doggy treat bag too! All donations go to the maintenance and supplies for the Gloucester Dog Park, keeping it looking good for all the dogs and owners of Cape Ann and beyond! And speaking of looking good! A big special Thank You to Best in Show Pet Salon in Gloucester, MA and Julie Wilkins for sponsoring the ice cream truck! We couldn’t have done this with out you!!! And a few other special people!
