This one-hour, visual journey is largely based on Cape Ann Museumโs vast, historic photograph collection. The presentation is extensively researched and illustrates a lovely and short-lived time gone by, c1900. Learn about the 15 hotels, who they served, and what happened to them. Susan will take you around the East Gloucester peninsula to a world where guests stayed, not for a week, but for a season. Understand how the land changed from one of farms and pastures to a center of resort life, and became the most dense area of summer hotels between Boston and Maine.

Did you know that Dan King plays each Wednesday at the Rhumb Line with a spotlight guest?โThis Wednesday, Dan King invites Jay Aptt to join him.โKitchen is open and the live music is 6:00-9:00. Give yourself a nice live music bump to get through the rest of the week!โAnd maybe a bowl of French Onion Soup and a beverage as well.

Backyard birding was particularly interesting in the day after the recent snowfall. It was sunny and snowy and there was fresh birdseed to tempt our visitors. The Merlin bird app indicated there was quite a variety out there.

Julie stopped down at our store at 44 Main St to pick up her podcast prize of a suncatcher from Pat Dโs Photos. They also picked out a glass print for purchase. Thanks for listening and for the support.

The February 3rd concert features a young woman who Celene and I saw at a Folk Alliance International conference in Kansas City. She impressed us mightily, and we have been looking forward to this show. Her name is Joy Clark, she was born and raised in New Orleans and still lives there, and she’ll be accompanied by two more terrific musicians from New Orleans.
The concert page, with more information and links for tickets, is at https://oldslooppresents.org/performance/joy-clark-2024
Here is a video of Joy performing her song One Step in the Right Direction:

Every day something catches my eye while driving around our city that simply says, “Gloucester.”โThe other day it was these…..and, coincidentally, I noticed later that the name “Gloucester Marine” can be seen in the photo as well. โ

We took a quick walk around the dock at Maritime Gloucester on the Harbor Loop in the sun following the snowfall. I cannot resist the setting down there especially on such a beautiful day. Remember to visit the museum Thursday-Monday (today!) 10 am – 4 pm.
