I was fortunate enough to take a boat ride around “the Cape” with GMG’s ,Chris Langathianos, on his awesome Zodiac the other day. (click for video) It was just choppy enough going around the outside…and along the back shore… to make it exciting….then super flat once rounding Halibut Point. We stopped to see the seals off of Rockport and then, as hoped, stumbled upon three or four humpback whales uncommonly close to land. With a ton of bait fish present on the surface, it was no wonder the whales had found their way inside the bay. It was a phenomenal afternoon and another reminder, after a dreary start to our spring, that we are indeed so lucky to live on Cape Ann. Thanks, Chris!

Traditional Memorial Day

Today May 30 is the original date to recognize Memorial Day (previously Decoration Day for those of us of a “certain age”). I like to take a pause every year on May 30 in honor of the tradition.

“M/N Contemporary Art” is a new contemporary gallery in downtown Gloucester kicking off Spring with its latest show Ostara!” Ostara is an exhibition celebrating spring and the gallery is bursting with bright floral color and earthy undertones. Featured artists include gallery co-owners Vanessa Michalak and Rebecca Nagle as well as work by visiting artists Loren Doucette, Jennifer Brown and Sasha Parfenova. This Saturday, June 1st, we are excited to have Loren drawing live at the gallery. The art show runs through June 23rd. M/N Contemporary Art is located at 20 Pleasant St, Gloucester MA.

The Good Harbor Creek will be closed today due to an assumption of bacterial exceedance after rainfall/storm event based on historical data.
