Pirates in the harbor!
In a major Nor’easter over a year ago, a massive tree came crashing through the roof of an antique home inGloucester. Thankfully, the owner, Jennifer, wasn’t athome when it happened, but when she returned, she was devastated to find that it was uninhabitable. She set about finding somewhere to stay while the insurance claim was processed, no easy task for a low income senior.
Jennifer ended up getting in touch with the city, and PeterWilliamson, the Senior Project Manager for the Grants Department, stepped in to help. He arranged for housing as well as found funding to fix her home and contacted Essex County Habitat for Humanity to help.
In addition to repairing the roof and bathroom damage caused by the tree, we have determined that the housealso needs some structural work, new windows and asecond egress to bring it up to code.
Jennifer, an independent woman in her late 70s, isdetermined to continue to live in her own home, which she has owned for 40 years. The project is anticipated to take four months to complete and will make this adorable house safe for Jennifer to live in for years to come.

What a venue for graduation! If there’s a more iconic spot for a High School Graduation….along the river, facing Gloucester Harbor…I don’t know of it. My parents both graduated from Gloucester High School, but I grew up in Middleton until 7th grade and then moved to Hamilton. I graduated from Hamilton/Wenham and then later, after college, moved to Rockport then Gloucester. My boys went to the private school where I work….and then Thatcher attended Middle School in Rockport. He now goes to Essex Tech…a phenomenal school. So, first the very first time, I have a child at Gloucester High School. Finn is only a Freshman (and is loving it) and I didn’t attend Graduation, but I know some phenomenal students who graduated this year and was happy to snap this photo while driving past. Congratulations to GHS, Class of 2024!

What a cute little place Last Stop on East Main Street is! Jim loves it there and thought it should be shared with you! Perfect stop on your way to summer fun.

Rabbit and I were here a week before the Covid shutdowns.
Late Saturday afternoon the clouds over the beach were beautiful. It got a little foggy with winds. Great afternoon. Also, the ducks and ducklings swimming are adorable.
