The Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe (CAST) opens its 2024-25 Season with Shakespeare’s lively comedy “Twelfth Night,” on November 8-10, and November 15-17, 2024, at the Gloucester Stage Theater, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. (Fridays and Saturdays 7:30 p.m., Sunday matinees, 3 p.m.) Tickets, $28 side section seating and $35 for center section seats, may be purchased at the door and online at www.gloucesterstage.com.
In Shakespeare’s fantasy island world of Illyria, a lovesick Pirate Governor sends a young servant to woo Olivia, the proprietress of the local tavern. But, in true Shakespearean fashion, the servant is actually a young woman, Viola, who after finding herself shipwrecked alone on the island, has dressed as her twin brother for safety sake while seeking a position serving the Governor. This deception leads to a preposterous plot, mistaken identities, misunderstandings, deception, humor, misrule, and romance. Meanwhile, in the Tavern Courtyard, there are more romantic entanglements and hijinks as two aging Knights, a Minstrel and the Barmaid, sing, conspire, drink, cavort, and play cruel pranks for everyone’s amusement. Masquerading lovers result in misguided marriage proposals which only Olivia’s long lost twin can resolve.
Share the laughter and music as, tossed on a stormy sea, the characters navigate life and ambition in an all too familiar turbulent world. “Twelfth Night” will tickle you right from the start as the world and society are turned upside down in the name of love.
CAST’s fresh production of “Twelfth Night”, directed by Mark Efinger, features a variety of actors from professionals, to community players, to those making their stage debut including: Kavika Babson, Patrice Benjamin, Andrew Bove, Cole Brown, Allegra Dubus-Brandolini, Olivia Gale, Kristin Harris, Frances Hellums, Jena Jekums, Billy Jenkins, David Lee Vincent, Ashley Olsen, Brian Weed, Deirdre Weed, and Samson Willcox. The Crew includes Mark Efinger, Director; Billy Lewand, Co-Director; Cindy Efinger, Stage Manager; Kevin Lee, Technical Director; Nick Neyeloff, Assistant Technical Director; and Eric Sayre, Tech Crew.
The Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe, a non-profit community theatre group formed in 2008, is devoted to bringing the works of Shakespeare and other notable playwrights to Cape Ann audiences.

Seeing some work being done to the exterior of the former Halibut Point on Main St last week made me feel hopeful for its future.

Tonight’s the Night! We are thrilled to kick off the opening of The Terror of Abbadia Mare at Hammond Castle Museum!
As you travel through the Castle’s darkened corridors and rooms, you’ll encounter some of the most peculiar guests ever assembled. Hammond’s writing style, reminiscent of the 1920s Weird Tale and the 1950s Pulp Fiction offers a unique blend of supernatural intrigue and kitschy charm
Featuring an incredible cast:

~ The Cut Live ~

Things are NEW over at The Cut! We have a new executive chef, Justus Dunton, and he is using his local connections to being in the very best ingredients fresh from farms right here on the North Shore.

We were driving around and decided to stop at Cove Cafe on Washington St. in Lanesville because we had not been there in a while. I immediately realized we’d made a mistake by neglecting to stop back sooner! So many lovely treats and eats to choose from! Jim got a Cuban and I got a BLT. The photos do not adequately demonstrate how tasty these were. You can choose to sit if you like but we took our sandwiches as take out. I also had the special fall cider Caramel Spice…..mmmmm…..there’s nothing quite as good as hot cider on a fall day. Well worth stopping for the friendly service and delicious treats.
