My View of Life on the Dock
We took a trip the Museum of Fine Arts the other day. Other than not having nearly enough time to see it all, we had a fantastic afternoon.
If you haven’t been in a while, you should totally plan a trip. An added bonus is that kids 6 and under are always free and children 7-17 are free during all non-school hours (weekdays after 3:00, weekends, and holidays).
Here is a tiny sample of what we saw…..which was only 1/4 of the what the amazing collection has to offer. And, yes, if you look the through the photos you will indeed see my younger son giggling uncontrollably at some of the nude paintings and sculptures. You can take the boy out of the hockey rink, but you can’t take the hockey rink out of the boy.

I tossed the cast iron grates from the STOK on the performer to grill these up. Worked out well.

The Play, Dogtown Common, is a Stirring Portrayal of Community
Every time we hear about another drug overdose in our community, we are reminded that addiction and mental health are serious issues that are not going away. This really hit home on Sunday afternoon as we witnessed a remarkable performance by the North Shore Folklore Theatre Company. Dogtown Common: Never Try, Never Win is at once the history and demise of one of Gloucester’s most unique and misunderstood areas as well as the present-day story of one man’s descent into the opioid quagmire. An essential theme of the production has to do with the community’s response to his suffering. Past and present come together in a powerful production that featured Gloucester citizens ranging in age from 8 to 81 as well as some terrific original music.
The sold-out show was followed by a spirited and substantive discussion between audience members and the cast. What stood out was how much people could relate the themes of the performance to their everyday lives. The message we took away was that a caring community is a really important part of the healing process.
The show really rocked. Final performances take place on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16,at 7:00 pm and Sunday, April 17, at 2:00pm in the back room of the Floating Lotus store, 169 Main St., Gloucester.

It was overcast and chilly, so the parade wasn’t quite what it has been in the past during summer balls, but in spite of the weather, people turned out with some great costumes. The Studio looked amazing, the Ball Committee did an incredible job of decorating, food was plentiful and delicious and fun was had by all.

Tons of fun!!
Rockport to Gloucester and back again, speeding along for a shore close-up at the very end. We couldn’t resist filming the speedy little guy. Did the dog know? Hoping this Monday minute whisks you away to a fabulous shore.
Any soundtrack can work. I was tempted to write ‘Ryan’s dog’… The west coast of Ireland vistas in the movie Ryan’s Daughter flicked in my mind. The 1970 movie was directed by David Lean, cinematography by Freddie Young, and score by Maurice Jarre.

I could not help but share the deli case this morning at Willow Rest! It’s simply stunning and inviting, but I came for the awesome breakfast burrito!
