John Abisamra submits “Yesterday was the opening reception for Gallery 53 on Rocky Neck. New juried members from Gloucester include Melissa Cox and myself as photographers. There was a huge turnout for the event. Gallery 53 will remain open though mid October and has 28 artists displaying/selling their work. It’s right in the heart of Rocky Neck between the Rudder and Studio restaurants. Great place to visit to see some magnificent art work!! I have attached a photo of my work and there are additional photos on the Gallery 53 website. The current Gallery 53 exhibit is entitled BLUE. Thanks for getting the word out about Gallery 53 through Good Morning Gloucester!”

It’s a beautiful day at Maritime Gloucester today. The Sea Pocket Aquarium is open, come see the blue lobster. Seapocket picture taken by Rod Kessler of Salem this morning. Schooner Ardelle is sailing at 1 PM. We are also open on Memorial Day. Come down and enjoy all the waterfront has to offer.

½ cup white wind or water
2 cups water
Coarse salt and fresh ground pepper
14 ½ ounces vegetable broth
1 bunch of asparagus (about 1 pound) trimmed and cut in 2 inch pieces
1 box frozen peas defrosted (or fresh)
½ cup fresh grated parmesan
In a large saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add Barley and leeks and cook until it begins to soften about 5 to 7 minutes. Add ½ cup wine or water and cook for another 5 minutes and water…
