Descendants Sail Free on Adventure

Gloucester_Schooner_Festival_Sept._4_2016_ GeorgeBekris--1637 (2)

Are there schooner fishermen in your family tree? Not just those who fished from Adventure’s dories, but any schooner. If so, you and your family members can sail free of charge with us on Sunday, August 18, from 2 – 5 pm. It is a great opportunity to experience some of what your forefathers went through to put bread on their tables and fish on tables across the country. Bring the kids so that they can see a little of what made Gloucester what it was then and is today. Join us for the afternoon and share your family stories with others, help raise the sails, and learn some family history.

Call the Adventure office at 978 281 8079 to sign up today, space is limited.

ABOUT FISHER JIM

Told in the voice of a 10-year-old, Fisher Jim is the hilarious saga of a boy’s adventures on the ocean. Though names have been changed for fictional purposes, kids will recognize Essex, Ipswich Bay, Lanesville, and many more Cape Ann landmarks in Jim’s story.

HOW THIS ONLINE CHAPTER BOOK WORKS

Just like magazine serials of the 1950s, two illustrated chapters will appear every Wednesday on Elinor’s website, from August 14 until October 23, 2019. Families can enjoy each chapter in a digital form or download it as a PDF for printing.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

Perfect for reading aloud, Fisher Jim is a true North Shore tale, full of salty humor and local characters. The book site also includes plenty of links to kid-friendly activities and organizations around Cape Ann. Choose your own adventure!
