FREE TAX AID FOR ANYONE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE EVERY WEDNESDAY FROM 1-4PM

TaxAide Volunteer Kathy Carusone writes,
I am volunteering with AARP TaxAide and we opened a new service center at the Open Door on Emerson.  We do taxes at no charge on Wednesday’s 1-4pm. There is no age limit or need to be a member of AARP or part of the Open Door Community.  The service is free and the volunteer preparers are certified by the IRS.  We’d like the community to be aware of the service.
Thanks,
Kathy Carusone

BEAUTIFUL BRANTS DIP DIVING IN THE SURF

Look for the beautiful Brant currently on our shores, fortifying on sea lettuce and seaweed for the long migration north. Brants breed in the high Arctic tundra.

I think I’ll call it a travel corsage- for my beautiful mother-in-law | thanks Sage Floral #GloucesterMA

My beautiful and super independent mother-in-law is leaving on a jet plane which inspired me to ask for a custom corsage. I’m calling it a ‘travel corsage’. What do you think? Say hi if you see her. Thanks Sage Floral Studio for helping me make her feel special.

First Light on the Annisquam

Another breathtaking photo from Paul Horovitz as the day begins on the Annisquam.  Won’t be long now until the river begins welcoming early season boaters.

Triton Announces Spring is Coming

I saw a splash of yellow blooms in the Betty Smith Garden and had to hope out and share it with you all. It seemed to me that Triton was trumpeting the announcement of Spring on the horizon.

Gloucester Summer 1959

I happened to be looking at the Gloucester Daily Times from Aug 7 1959 when President Eisenhower was in office and Gloucester was being led by its first female mayor, Beatrice Corliss. Some of these faces, vessels and family names might ring a bell with our readers. Check out the tire prices! I hope the memories bring a smile to some faces today.

Agni ~

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC's avatarCape Ann Wellness

It’s all about the Agni (digestive fire)?

Through the lens of #Ayurveda, #Agni is the most important factor in determining ones dietary needs.

In Ayurveda we say “you are not what you eat, you are what you digest”

At Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC we work with many clients whose agni is either too low or too high and once balanced are amazed at how well they feel.

Causes of weak Agni:

Eating the same foods
Overeating
Drinking too much water with meals
Eating at irregular times
Staying up late
Not exercising enough
Eating out of accordance with one’s constitution
Resisting the urge to eat

Not sure if yours is low or high?

Raking, pushing, pulling, lots of bending. There are times when you are working your muscles and getting stronger, and times when you are straining your muscles or joints and even getting injured. Learn a variety of ways to work in the garden that provide more ease.

Seaside Garden Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, September through June, at the Manchester Community Center, located at 40 Harbor Point, Manchester-by-the-Sea.
