Gloucester Harbor Schooner Sail for LGBTQIA+ Teens

Schooner Adventure will offer a free, private sail in Gloucester Harbor for LGBTQIA+ teenagers and their allies, ages 13-18, on Friday evening, June 28.

The sail during St. Peter’s Fiesta will feature beautiful views from the harbor of the Greasy Pole contest and carnival. Members of the local teen-age band Kicked Off the Bus will play music on board the schooner to add to the fun atmosphere.

Food and drink will be provided, and the Adventure’s crew and other adults will chaperone. Permission slips are required for ages 13-17. The schooner sail is organized by the Cape Ann Pride Coalition and Younity and is free to participants thanks to a grant from Awesome Gloucester and other donations.

The sail will take place on June 28 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The schooner is located at the Harriet Webster Pier, 23 Harbor Loop in Gloucester. If you have questions or to sign up to join the sail, email stephenh@capeannpride.org byMonday, June 24. 

Go See The Whales!

I put on my red whale watching wellies and we took our second whale watch of the season recently because the sightings have been unbelievable. We were not disappointed. Capt John and naturalist Tina of Cape Ann Whale Watch guided a full boat out to Jeffrey’s Ledge where we were treated to a calf having quite the play time. It was a bit choppy but none of the passengers cared about that too much with the show that was going on right in front of us. More thorough reporting of the trip can be found at this Cape Ann Whale Watch Facebook link about the trip. As always, education is paramount which is something I truly appreciate. It was nice to see familiar faces aboard including Thatcher as a crew member! Well done by all.

Fiesta is almost here! Do you know where you’re celebrating?
Start the party with Dueling Pianos on the stage Wednesday evening (6/26).
Then we have Bikini Whale – A B-52’s Tribute, with Tsunami of Sound on Thursday night (6/27), a EDM DJ Dance Party on Friday night (6/28), and the Dubtone Orchestra Fiesta Party Saturday night (6/29). Make sure you get your tickets before they’re gone!
We also have live music in “The Corner” at the front of the restaurant on Wednesday and Thursday night, as well as Saturday for brunch (no cover) – AND we’ll be streaming the Seine Boat Races and Greasy Pole on giant TVs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Come watch the festivities and have a cold beverage without the madness of Pavillion Beach!
