Wreath Making Event

Linda Brown of All Purpose Flowers on Lexington Ave in Magnolia recently hosted a wreath making workshop that I decided to attend despite my clear lack of skill. Linda brought everything we needed and had the tables all decked out with clippers, glue guns and tape so we set to work.  The wine and cheese helped. I even got to witness FOB Sharon use a glue gun for the first time! It was such fun that Linda is considering offering another workshop in flower arrangement, which I am looking forward to. Making a spring wreath is a nice way to usher in spring…..hello? Spring? We are waiting….

Seeking Runners to Escort Adventureman

As you may know, Adventureman is scheduled to end his run around the continental United States right here in Gloucester on or near March 27 and we need some help to make him feel welcome.

Runners are invited to join Adventureman as he approaches Gloucester and escort him into town. Please comment or email GMG to be added to the list for updates.

Host families are needed for a few of Adventureman’s family and friends who will be visiting from his hometown in Gloucester England. This would be for just a couple of nights around March 27. There is one set of 3 people, and 2 sets of 2 people if you can help out, please show our visitors Gloucester spirit by volunteering. Also email or comment.

Sunday with the Fisherman

Sometimes you just gotta have a Fisherman’s down at Cape Ann Brewing. Home Port Pale Ale seemed appropriate with my French Dip sandwich.

I love the lobster trap style holders for condiments. There were several families with young children enjoying the atmosphere. I asked what brought so many children in and was told the staff theorized that Cape Ann Brewing filled the hole Friendly’s left behind ( and at least the parents could drink). Seemed a reasonable theory to me. Cheers to the Fisherman!

Half Moon at High Tide

I walked around Stage Fort Park on a recent sunny morning. It was glorious. I always like to see what the beaches look like as they await summertime. Half Moon did not disappoint, although the chair seems a bit lonely standing guard without children at its feet.

Hunkering Down

A lifetime of storm warnings in rural New York has conditioned me to certain rituals of storm prep. These habits are hard to break so off I went to collect up comfort food and drink to prepare for this weekend’s snow. Critical stops include Stop and Shop, Bischo and Virgilios. Bring it on! I’m ready to hunker down.

Plans for Adventureman’s Arrival Coming Along….Join Us!

Adventureman’s latest update indicates he is in Delaware and “only” 17 marathons away from his finish line here in Gloucester, so plans are being made to greet him Glosta style. Hopefully you remember he is running the perimeter of the United States to raise money to treat sick children. We hope you can join us one way or another.

We are seeking runners interested in escorting Adventureman into town. I know there are many runners out there on our local streets who might be interested in participating in this huge event to demonstrate Gloucester’s welcoming nature. We expect him to arrive Wednesday March 27, though it could be a day earlier or later: we will keep you posted on the date and the route. Please contact us at GMG, or by commenting on the blog or Facebook with questions or comments.

We are also in need of host families for about 7 people total: one group of 3; and 4 others coming in from “across the pond” to support the hometown boy from Gloucester England. We expect it to be a couple of nights. Please contact us at GMG, or by commenting on the blog or Facebook, or by emailing me at pdalpiaz19@gmail.com if you can host our visitors.

Looking forward to welcoming this guy to Gloucester! Thank you Mayor for your help! Please join us.

Busy on the Beach

If you look closely for the details at a scene like this at Crane Beach

You’ll see how busy it is even on a cold winter day.

And perhaps you’ll even be rewarded with this

Hawks Nesting

It looks like a hawk couple have decided to nest in our backyard! We are excitedly watching for progress. This is the hawk couple. We think they are Red Tails but are open for opinions from those with better knowledge.
