It’s very pretty at Wonson’s Cove, especially at high tide. I did not realize this was also a public landing called Flat Cove Landing.

My View of Life on the Dock
It’s very pretty at Wonson’s Cove, especially at high tide. I did not realize this was also a public landing called Flat Cove Landing.

Foreboding cloud at the state pier yesterday not long before the rain came.

Stopped by to check out Yella, open just in time for Fiesta! It’s lovely and the staff is friendly. Great take for watching the world go by on the boulevard.

Foggy harbor sights:

The Dog and I coming in on a foggy day and other “dog and I” boulevard walkers:

Sometimes it’s hard to tell the front from the back side!

Congratulations to the Gloucester Softball team for (another!) come from behind victory in yesterday’s state championship semifinal game against Norton. The final score was 3-2 in a well played game. Division 2 State Finals are scheduled for Saturday June 22 at Worcester State College. Congratulations team! Good luck Saturday in the finals!
It does appear this Eagle is in deep thought, as Lame Deer noted in the quote “In an Eagle there is all the wisdom in the world”

It’s always a thrill to see these majestic birds.

I was looking for something a little different to do recently and took the short ride to Beverly, intrigued by the description of the Long Hill estate gardens, which were supposed to be at peak in May and June. This site is a 114 acre estate managed by the Trustees of Reservations and is open to the public free of charge.
I think I missed peak by perhaps two weeks, but there was still plenty of beauty to behold. There are also walking trails available though I did not check those out this time. My focus was on gardens. Some scenes:

Some pictures from a recent visit to Halibut Point State Park and the Halibut Point Reservation. It’s a wonderful place to visit and I highly recommend taking the ride over. It was a quiet day, even with the school bus load of eager youngsters.

Access to ocean views provide a place for rest or reflection:

It appears the Visitors Center Observation Tower is still under repair and I believe it is still closed.

I have to admit, the sign got me into the Cove Cafe in Lanesville last Monday. The former Plum Cove Grind, now Cove Cafe, is a nice little stop to make. Alisha was very helpful (and says hello to Manny!); the sandwich was yummy and the atmosphere cozy. Breakfast is served all day. I look forward to introducing this place to GMG Jimmy!

These are from Simon Jacobs Landing on Harbor Loop on a pretty day recently. It’s one of the places I like to recommend to the tourists at the Visitors Center as kind of a hidden jewel.

Downtown on a pretty sunny afternoon is a welcome sight for someone who has lived in very rural areas her entire life:

Today is Flag Day. There’s nothing quite like the red, white and blue of the American flag, is there?

I hadn’t been down to Good Harbor Beach in a while so I went down on a quiet Monday morning. It was sunny and nice, but not hot. I think there were more gulls than people but I walked down to the water’s edge to put my feet in the 52 degree water. It felt great! I didn’t see any plovers, but I was glad to give the lonely lifeguards someone to watch at the water’s edge.

New place open in former Pisces location. Can’t wait to stop in!

It’s so pretty down on Rocky Neck. Mother Nature and residents do a wonderful job making it even prettier.

Joey pointed out this Black-crowned night heron down at the dock. He played a little peek-a-boo with me. First one I have seen. I am amazed how well their coloring blends in.

Also spotted on the dock just before the podcast was taped: a mature cap-crowned day tripper. Might be immature……

As often happens when I am following another photo opportunity, something beautiful happens in the periphery. Egrets are so very graceful, especially in flight.

There’s something pretty magical about Little League games in the June sunshine. We re-visited our Little League days watching the Rangers play the Giants recently. We enjoyed the game and were impressed by how much fun it seemed the players were having. Kudos to all the coaches and parents!
I had an assistant photographer with me to help me out, and many of these shots are hers. Thanks Julia!
Good by and thank you to Morning Glory. Welcome to Yella on the Water coming soon on the boulevard. Workers are busy getting the place ready and we look forward to the opening!
