My View of Life on the Dock
Here is this week’s music line up at The Rhumb Line. As always, live music 7 days per week! See you there!

We enjoyed a beautiful evening by one of the fireplaces at the Beauport Hotel last night. Here is just a small sampling of their holiday magic.

This week’s live music schedule at the Rhumb Line

Mako found his perfect Christmas Tree at the tree farm over the weekend. Despite trying to claim it, we explained that it needed to stay at the farm to continue growing so we could bring it home for a later Christmas.

Tonno’s Gorgonzola stuffed figs were pretty incredible!

Last week’s full moon was gorgeous…. Especially over Good Harbor Beach. I’ve never done a good job of capturing a full moon to look as giant as it should, but I still enjoyed sitting and watching for a bit.

As always, live music seven days per week!

Lot of smoke over the water towards Salem this weekend.

A couple of friends and I took advantage of yesterday’s beautiful weather and sat on the deck at the Beauport to review some paperwork. A couple of quick cocktails, the beet salad, and a delicious flatbread pizza helped round out a perfect afternoon.

I had the Huevos Rancheros at Oak to Ember last Sunday after our podcast and they were delicious!

So much history to be found within the city of Gloucester. I looked up the National Register of Historic Places to see what I could find about this exact location (listed as the Puritan House) and found a map of designated areas in the city of Gloucester. You can see the map here:

More specifics about the James Tappan Puritan House can be found here as well:

It was the first brick building to be built in the city. It was built in 1810 for James Tappan, a schoolteacher from New Hampshire who once had Daniel Webster as a student.Tappan operated Tappan’s Hotel on the premises, and it served as a major social center for the community. Later owners also operated it as a hotel space, including one who gave it the name “Puritan House”. It now houses other businesses.

I was up in Portsmouth with friends Saturday night and a gentleman had an enormous telescope set up on the street and was offering the chance to take a peek at Saturn. While it was visible with the naked eye it was obviously tiny, but it was crystal clear through his telescope and I was so sad that we stopped to take a look. Saturn is 870,000,000 miles away….. which for even a non-astronomy nut like myself is pretty mind-boggling.

I had the pleasure of attending a pretty special concert in the beautiful Crowell Chapel in Manchester on Saturday evening. Wood & Bone played some mesmerizing music and I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to hear them. I have driven by the chapel a 100 times and have never been inside. Such a lovely place, nestled in the cemetery that is currently decorated with picturesque fall foliage.

New igloo dining coming soon to Mile Marker’s Bridge Deck at Cape Ann’s Marina Resort. Stay tuned….more to come!

Goodnight, Kettle Island. The sunset was beautiful last night.

Dead & Breakfast Inn. I’ve been meaning to take more photos of Halloween decorations recently. It seems that there are more around than in years past and I always appreciate the effort people put in for the children’s sake. I still remember the houses in my neighborhood that went above and beyond when I was little. Good stuff.

As always, live music every single day….twice on Fridays and Saturdays.
