It looks like some sort of catapult. It is very large. I wonder about it every time I see it, and would love to know what it is and what it is used for.

My View of Life on the Dock
If you’ve been to an art opening at Alchemy, you know they do it up with style. Add to that a Bully Boy Distilleries release party for their new aged whiskey (their vodka, rum and white whiskey will also be there), and you have all the makings for a fun evening at a great spot. Hope to see a bunch of GMG peeps and FOBs there – it will be like a Mug Up with alcohol, and not on a Sunday morning for those who could never come because they were at church or didn’t get up that early on Sunday morning. Feel free to bring a friend. Thursday, November 29th 5:30-7:30 at Alchemy Cafe and Bistro, 3 Duncan Street, Gloucester.

I’ll be there. Hope to you see you. MAC puts on a great holiday fair. They are also having an open house that day, so can come to the holiday fair, work out, take a group exercise class, go for a swim, or even sit in the hot tub! What better way to do some holiday shopping and do something great for yourself. They also have a great cafeteria for lunch. What more could you ask for?

After I posted this photo of Annisquam Light, I received an email from Tony Marolda of Annisquam with this photo of a painting he had done of almost the exact same perspective, but his was a summer view. Check out some of Tony’s paintings at http://www.anthonyjmarolda.com/ajm_paintings_and_writings_aug_2012_002.htm. He is also an author who has written a number of very interesting sounding books – historical maritime adventures and an historical novel about the Adams Family (no not Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Lurch, Grandmama, Wednesday, Pugsley, Pubert and Thing) who owned the home they now reside in during the summer on Adams Hill.

Three people went for a walk out on the sandbar off Wingaersheek Beach Sunday afternoon and ended up going for an unexpected swim. It was a beautiful day and I was out showing the village to visiting FOB’s Linda and Rob Castagna from Milford, NJ when we came across this scene. In the first photo, you can see the most distracted of the three running full speed to catch up with his two friends who were nearly back to the beach (2nd photo). In the 3rd photo you can see that the beginning of the sandbar is now under water and in the 4th photo, well – they have no choice but to wade in to shore. Fortunately is was a balmy November day and the water hasn’t had a chance to get too cold.
