One Hour at a Time Gang

Hi kids:

Hope everyone stayed dry.  Since tomorrow looks like a decent day, had a thought to clean Main and Rogers Street.

Since it is Sunday,  how about 1:00 at St. Peter’s Square.  Just a thought.  No worries if you can’t make it.

Thanks and take care

Donna

Furniture Viewing & Shopping by appointment. Call 978 526 1414.

Hi! I’m Kristen and my store, Shackteau Interiors, was born out of a love for antique and vintage furniture, milk paint, interior design, and giving old pieces of furniture new life. My husband and I bought an old Victorian home and I had a lot of furniture that I loved but didn’t quite fit in with our new home. I decided to paint, stain, refinish what I had and fell in love again with my “new furniture”.

All my pieces are personally selected by me and are all one off’s so all pieces are truly unique. I love to find unique pieces and the older the better! I specialize in painting with Shackteau Interiors Milk Paint. Our paint is non toxic and contains no VOC’s. I love the finish it creates on older pieces. I get a lot of my coastal design and inspiration from my vacations on Martha’s Vineyard. One of my favorite places to be!

Shackteau Interiors is a furniture, paint, and hardware store which specializes in refinishing antique and unique vintage furniture. Each piece is hand selected and uniquely finished by yours truly so no two pieces are alike! We are located in beautiful Magnolia at 15 Lexington Ave # 1 Gloucester, MA 01930.

Furniture pick up is required within three days of purchase online. If furniture is not picked up within three days, a $50 a week storage fee will incur.

All other purchases will be shipped out within three business days or available for local pick up within three business days. Please be able to promptly pick up as space is a premium in my studio

All furniture sales are final. Which means no returns so please be sure to check your measurements and space!

Please note: color of furniture is only as accurate as your computer monitor and/or printer can reproduce. Actual colors will vary somewhat. Please request to see the furniture in person before committing to purchasing online if exact color is important. Please note there are no refunds if purchased online sight unseen due to color or size.

Honor to see Cape Ann’s own Bobbi Gibb at the Boston Marathon finish line.

On Sunday Rick and I went to take in the spirit of the 128th running of the Boston Marathon.  It wonderful to feel the positive energy of this event.  Lots of music, runners from all over the world and the history of this event.

When the announcer introduced some of the past winners, it was exciting to see Bobbi Gibb.  Went up to speak to her and she was kind and excited to be there.  (thank you Rick for the photo).  Bobbi Gibb is an amazing runner.  See below.

Reblogged from Wikipedia:

Roberta Louise Gibb (born November 2, 1942) is an American former runner who was the first woman to have run the entire Boston Marathon (1966).[1] She is recognized by the Boston Athletic Association as the pre-sanctioned era women’s winner in 1966, 1967, and 1968.[2] At the Boston Marathon, the pre-sanctioned era comprised the years from 1966 through 1971, when women, who under AAU rules could not compete in the Men’s Division, ran and finished the race. In 1996 the B.A.A. retroactively recognized as champions the women who finished first in the Pioneer Women’s Division Marathon for the years 1966–1971.

Gibb’s run in 1966 challenged prevalent prejudices and misconceptions about women’s athletic capabilities.[3] In 1967, she finished nearly an hour ahead of Kathrine Switzer. In 1968 Gibb finished first among five women that ran the marathon. It was not until late 1971, pursuant to a petition to the Amateur Athletic Union by Nina Kuscsik, that the AAU changed its rules and began to sanction women’s division marathons. Kuscsik won the initial AAU-sanctioned women’s division race at Boston in 1972.[4]

Splash over on Stacy Boulevard

On Friday while walking on the boulevard after high tide, the splash over was fabulous.   As I was trying to get this photo, the water from the other side came over my head.  Glad I did not use my Canon camera.

Interesting light after the eclipse

We walked Shore Road with our special glasses and watched the eclipse. It did not disappoint.  After the moon left the sun, the lighting was interesting.
