Breaking news

GLOUCESTER, Mass. —A stuck flip-flop may be responsible for causing a vehicle to plunge into the water off the Stone Pier in Gloucester Friday.

Sky 5 showed the vehicle approximately 15 to 20 feet from the pier, in a shallow area of the river.

According to the Gloucester Fire dispatcher, the vehicle accelerated into the water after a flip-flop got stuck under the gas pedal.

The two men inside the vehicle escaped without injury.

The harbormaster was at the scene to help get the vehicle out of the water.

Saturday Gran Prix in Gloucester, MA

What a great day and so much fun to watch. Here are some pictures from Saturday’s race. As I was talking to spectators and bikers from all over the world, the city of Gloucester is so lucky to have this event here. People were asking me where to eat, stay and enjoy themselves. They love the location and look forward to coming back year after year.
The following is some information with regards to the race.

The event, which will be held rain or shine, provides residents with the opportunity to dispose of hazardous materials in an environmentally responsible manner. There is no charge for Gloucester residents to dispose of hazardous waste up to a maximum of 25 pounds or 25 gallons and anything over this amount will require a payment to Clean Harbors (payable by check only). To ensure safety, please adhere to the following handling procedures: leave materials in original labeled containers; tighten caps and lids; place containers in sturdy upright boxes rather than in garbage bags; avoid smoking while handling hazardous materials.
