The Egrets are one of my favorite birds that come to visit us here on Cape Ann. Going around the rotary today spotted some in the marsh and the tide was very high.

The fog was so thick in Magnolia on Tuesday could not even see the pier, went over to the Annisquam near Wingaersheek Beach and it was clear.

Household Hazardous Waste Day

Household Hazardous Waste Day September 24, 2016
Household Hazardous Waste day will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 9am-12, rain or shine. Residents are asked to schedule an appointment to bring their materials to the DPW yard. The Recycling Department will begin accepting appointments beginning September 1st. Please call 978-281-9785 to schedule your appointment. Registration closes September 23 2016 at 11 AM.

Gloucester residents are allowed to bring up to 25 pound or gallons of material at no cost. If you exceed 25 pounds or gallons, and additional fee will be accessed and payable to Clean Harbors(payable by check only, cash is not accepted). For up to 1-3 gallons or pounds over it is $19, for 4-10 gallons or pounds over it is $24, 11-25 gallons or pounds over the charge is $46.50.
Please understand that we can only accept hazardous materials when Clean Harbors is on site, early drop offs will not be allowed.

A weekend with our grandchildren, such a blessing

Maddie, Owen, Cole, Avery came to visit last weekend.  What fun we had, we had a Plan of Action and did everything.  From visiting the animals a Marshalls Farm Stand, to having treats at Orange Leaf.  We started on Saturday with a great big breakfast and off to Marshalls, Mile Marker’s Pool, by the way is fabulous, to Stage Fort Park, hiking Tablet Rock, swimming at Half Moon Beach, back to Papa and Nonnie’s house for a big cookout and then a movie, The Jungle Book.  The love of grandchildren is something you cannot put into words.  Here a couple of photos.

Hi Donna,

We have just been told that they are airing the story on the NBC nightly news tomorrow night.  Monday 19th.

I have attached a spectacular Alaska whale photo.

Mr. Costello and his team were a real pleasure to work with, we thank them for their interest in our work.

Exciting news from Ocean Alliance

Congrats to our Ocean Alliance.

On Monday Sept 12th, Tom Costello from NBC Nightly News visited Ocean Alliance to shoot a story on SnotBot.

Mr. Costello was accompanied by his producer Jay Blackman, a videographer, and soundman. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the NBC team were on site from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Our CEO and chief SnotBot pilot Iain Kerr was interviewed and filmed flying SnotBot. Understanding the unique perspective of a drone, he offered to shoot some video of Mr. Costello for the news story with SnotBot. NBC are now heading to interview Dr. Scott Baker at Oregon State University, who is analyzing SnotBot samples from our most recent expedition to Alaska.

A relaxing day on Sunday

Saturday Clean Up

I have my grandchildren so will not be able to be there.

This weekend is the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Clean up day – a cleaning is scheduled in our area at:

Good Harbor Beach Cape Ann, Massachusetts

We will be meeting at the side entrance of Good Harbor Beach (Nautilus Road) We will be providing refreshments, trash bags, and gloves. However, we do encourage you to bring your own gloves if you can to reduce waste!
