Jim O’Neil has put together a fund-raising effort for JD Martz
Hi Joe, I hope all is well with you!
I wanted to share an idea for Good Morning Gloucester that will touch your readers hearts and inspire the North Shore community.
I’m working on a project for local contractor, Jim O’Neil who has put together a fund-raising effort for JD Martz, a 29-year-old family friend from Beverly who became paralyzed from the shoulders down last year. JD has a supportive family and a loyal girlfriend who has stood by him as he works toward rehabilitation and recovery. Their goal is to build JD a home in Danvers that will accommodate his electric wheelchair and new way of life. They’ve created an online fundraising drive at www.jdmartz.com. Jim is also coordinating in-kind donations of services, time and materials from sub-contractors and suppliers in the North Shore area. Jerry Noble Electricians of Gloucester and New England Design Works of Manchester by the Sea have already committed.
JD’s story went relatively under the radar last year and we hope this fundraising effort will bring a new focus to his ongoing cause. Attached is a press release and a bio that gives an overview of JD’s story. I’ve also attached a flyer that we put together to garner support from the building community.

Full Moon Ghee!
It’s that time again and YES we did make our FULL MOON GHEE! (Auspicious Ghee)
Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC Organic Ghee! Was made today and ready to pick up or be shipped, while supplies last!
Everything around us has an effect on something within us. The frequency of the moon affects the mind and influences our feelings, emotions, and desires. The practice of making Ghee on a full moon is considered auspicious because the moon is thought to influence “Soma” the source of nourishment, nectar, and bliss. Soma is a Sanskrit term which is derived from the root word “su” which means to energize, stimulate, expand and grow.
Think of Ghee as liquefied sunlight!
Ghee is the most refined end product of milk and one should consider using in place of butter. Because the milk solids have been removed, it has a higher smoking point than butter.

Season Premier October 4, 2018
1623 Studios and Gloucester resident John J. Ronan have announced the 29th season of the television series, The Writer’s Block with John J. Ronan. The award-winning production is one of the oldest, continuously-running public access shows in New England. In 2005, The Writer’s Block was awarded First Prize for an Educational Program Series by the New England Cable Television Association.
Once more, the season starts with a celebration of young writers: the student-poet winners of the spring’s Poetry Without Paper contest, sponsored by the Gloucester Lyceum! Students from elementary, middle, and high school will read and discuss their poems in front of a live audience of family and fans. The program airs Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 8:00 p.m., channel 12, and is repeated week later. All of the year’s shows present interviews with writers and artists of varied backgrounds.
John Ronan, producer and host of The Writer’s Block, is a former Gloucester Poet Laureate and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellow in poetry. His most recent book, Taking the Train of Singularity South from Midtown, appeared in 2017. (theRonan.org)
“1623 Studios is a dynamic force for culture on the Cape and we are proud of The Writer’s Block record,” Ronan declares. “Twenty-nine seasons is a long run in any market, at any level. And with the transition of Cape Ann TV to 1623 Studios, this season will be innovative and fresh, our best yet!”

Domestic Pigeon At Maritime Gloucester
Hi Joey,
This little guy showed up at Maritime Gloucester yesterday and is still here today. We’ve managed to give it some water. It has two leg bands, one has the number 4101. We think it is a domesticated pigeon who is lost. We’d love to know how to help it or who might be best to contact. Would you mind putting this out to the community to see if anyone knows who to contact?
Thanks,
Mary F Kay
