Join us in Downtown Manchester-by-the-Sea on Saturday, August 3 for Manchester’s biggest annual community event – Festival by the Sea! This festival is a celebration of the things that are synonymous with Cape Ann in the summertime: Art, Music and Food! Booths will be spread throughout downtown Manchester. Your senses will be inspired by the beautiful art, extraordinary live music and the aromas of delicious, local foods.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I wish I had more time myself, but mortgage rates are low and houses are moving fast. Therefore my vacations will be limited to long weekends and later afternoon beach trips.
So how do the numbers look and why are things so busy?
According to both the Warren Group and National Associations of Realtors, the median Massachusetts price for a single family home climbed 2.1% in June 2019 for a median price of $429,000.00. The surprising number is condo prices rose over 9% to a $420,000 median price. That means that a once affordable condo, now costs on average the same price of a single family home. The other misleading number is the median price as this takes into account all of Massachusetts. Hi Joey,
I thought you would be interested to hear about this new giving circle that will launch tomorrow Tuesday, July 30 at 5:30 pm at the Gloucester House. About 100 women who want to support our wonderful local community will gather for the first meeting of the Cape Ann Chapter of 100 Women Who Care (check out https://100whocarecapeann.org). Each woman will donate $100 and through the #powerof100 we will collectively raise $10,000 for a local charity.
We will hear presentations from members about three organizations that — Grace Center, Wellspring Educational Resource Collaborative and O’Maley After School Program — and vote on the one we think most needs funding. We will be meeting four times a year and members can nominate charitable organizations they would like to support. This means we will learn about 12 local charities each year and will donate $40,000+ to four of them.
We are five Gloucester residents who have recruited our friends, but we’d really like to spread the word to get more women to join us at future meetings. It would be great if you could help us to reach more people by writing about our efforts in GMG.
