*There will be no Early Voting for the Preliminary Election.*

Voter Registration Deadlines for the September 16, 2025 Preliminary Election: 

The deadline to register to vote or make changes to your voter registration for the September 16, 2025 Preliminary is Friday, September 5, 2025. The City Clerk’s Office will be open from 9:00am to 5:00pm for voter registration and registration changes.  Online voter registration deadline is Friday September 5, 2025 @ 11:59pm.  To find out if you are registered and where to vote click here.

Trash & Recycling Collection – September 2, 2025

The City of Gloucester is pleased to announce that curbside recycling collection will start tomorrow, after recent disruptions due to the Republic Services labor stoppage. Going forward, recycling will be picked up every other week.

Holiday Schedule for the Week of September 1:
Due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, trash and recycling collection will follow a holiday schedule. All routes will be delayed by one day this week.

For example, if your regular pickup day is Tuesday, your trash and recycling will be collected on Wednesday. Please be sure to place both your trash and recycling at the curb by 7:00 AM on your revised pickup day.

Recycling Drop-Off Availability:
The recycling drop-off site at the Department of Public Works will remain open this week: Tuesday through Friday, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Missed Pickup: If your trash or recycling is missed, please wait until after 5:00 PM on your scheduled collection day to report the issue using SeeClickFix.

Please join us Friday, September 5, from 6 to 8 pm, for the 2025 season’s final  Music on Meetinghouse Green concert at  the Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church, at the corner of Middle and Church Streets, Gloucester, as we go out with a bang with the Cape Ann Big Band. This diverse 17-piece big band entertains and delights audiences with danceable music infused with jazz, swing, New Orleans street bands, soul, and rock n’ roll that will take you back in time. 

Food service for this event will be Meat & Sweet serving savory meat dishes and baked goods. 

Our free summer concerts support partner local nonprofit organizations. This week, the  Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation itself will benefit from the free-will donations that support these partners, helping support preservation of this architectural and historic landmark. The evening also will include a 50/50 raffle as the Foundation celebrates the 10th anniversary of Music on Meetinghouse Green. Along with the nine-concert summer outdoor music series, The Meetinghouse year-around hosts public symposiums on contemporary concerns and offers a variety of concerts and other public programs. Please note that all events are rain or shine, with concerts being moved into the social hall if there is inclement weather!

Locomotors is a collaborative music and dance group rooted in the practice of Dalcroze Eurhythmics and open-form improvisation, with a special focus on the somatic relationship between sound and movement.

The core members are pianist and composer Michael Joviala, and dancer and choreographer Dawn Pratson.

This fall, Locomotors will explore new artistic ground through a dynamic interaction with the work of visual artist Derick Melander, whose large-scale sculptures made from secondhand clothing confront the intersection between global consumerism and the intimate relationship we have with what wear.

August 31, 2025 ~ The Cut Live

Friday James Austin Johnson from Saturday Night Live will be at The Cut for the first time and we couldn’t be more excited! Doors are at 6:30pm. Show is at 7:00pm. There are still a handful of seats available. Go grab them while you can!
We’ll also have live music in the restaurant starting at 8pm. No Cover.

Saturday it’s a Bim Skala Bim party in the venue. Kicked Off the Bus is opening, and Chip Rockers is jumping in as a special guest. Doors at 7:00pm. Show at 8:00pm. There are still tickets available.
DJ Skully will also be throwing it down in the restaurant with a pop-up DJ set from 9pm – Last Call. No Cover.

Sunday we have a “Sunday Soul and Lobster Rolls” collaboration between DVinci Soul (band) and Little Sister (food). Come grab a Lobster Roll special in the restaurant and then head back to the venue for some R&B, Motown, and Soul! There are still some tickets available. Doors at 5:00pm. Show at 6:00pm. You’ll be home in time to get your beauty sleep before the week!

As always, Little Sister will be serving their Best of The North Shore award-winning burgers (and so much more) starting at 5pm each night. Come early and grab food before the show or stay late and refuel after dancing! They offer a late-night menu on Friday and Saturday nights.
