The creator of goodmorninggloucester.org Lover of all things Gloucester and Cape Ann. GMG where we bring you the very best our town has to offer because we love to share all the great news and believe that by promoting others in our community everyone wins.
Led by coffee cupping guru Rob Fitzgibbon, this program is like a wine tasting, but with coffee. We will begin with an informal half hour presentation, covering coffee as an agricultural commodity, how it’s grown and processed, how it’s been consumed throughout history, and an introduction to concepts such as roasting, aroma, taste and mouthfeel.
We then do a fun interactive exercise in which participants try three different coffees and document what they smell and taste using stickers and a flavor wheel.
We end by reviewing our shared perceptions of taste and aroma, have Q & A session and finish the coffee. The purpose is to to pay attention to coffee – to gain more appreciation for the complexity and wonder of a drink that we typically take for granted in our day to day life.
The Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation is proud to present the original silent movie ‘Peter Pan,’ a 1925 American fantasy-adventure film as part of its Tenth Anniversary Series. It will be narrated by acclaimed actress Lindsay Crouse and accompanied on the pipe organ by maestro Peter Krasinski. This is great entertainment for the whole family during the holidays! Tickets are available at the door and online (strongly recommended) with more information at: http://www.gloucestermeetinghouse.org. General admission is $30, students $10, under age 12 free. The historic 1806 Meetinghouse, home of the Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church, is located on the green at the corner of Middle and Church Streets (GPS 50 Middle Street). Parking is available on the green and around the historic district. The side entrance at 10 Church Street has an elevator to the main level, if needed.
For decades the silent movie ‘Peter Pan’ was thought to be lost but in the 1950’s a well preserved copy was discovered in a vault in Rochester, New York. The film is based on a play written by Sir James Barrie and was directed by Herbert Brenon in 1924 and was filmed on Santa Cruz island. The plot explores fantasy, adventure and is a playful film armed with technical ingenuity and classic source material.
The presentation will be narrated by Lindsay Crouse, American actress who made her debut in the 1972 revival of Much Ado About Nothing. She has played many roles in numerous films and received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. Lindsay is a resident of Annisquam and a well-known celebrity on Cape Ann.
The film will also be accompanied by Peter Krasinski, a master of improvised silent movie accompaniment, whose exciting performances delight kids and adults alike. Krasinski will display the diverse power of the 1893 Hutchings/Fisk organ, creating music that adds mystery, intrigue and excitement to this memorable and nostalgic film.
‘Peter Pan’ is presented in collaboration with the Cape Ann Community Cinema.
This session is open to all trusted adults including teachers, coaches, afterschool staff, neighbors, bus drivers, youth leaders, and anyone who supports young people. We’ll spend the first half of the workshop engaging in discussion and shared learning, followed by a youth panel featuring voices from communities across the North Shore. They will share firsthand perspectives on the impact of trusted adults in their lives.
Our first workshop received excellent feedback, with participants reporting they felt more prepared and confident in talking with youth about their needs.
Please help us spread the word! Invite friends, family, and colleagues, and join us for an engaging and meaningful evening and an opportunity to add a few new tools to your toolbox.

This page was organized to help support my mom, Julie, during this devastating time. As all of you know, Julie and Chuck are rarely seen apart. She continues to stand by his side while he is in the ICU and we’re hoping to lighten her burden a bit, while helping ensure she also takes care of herself. Having meals dropped off a couple times a week would would be a huge help (meal sign ups below), along with any gift cards for gas, food on the go, or other needs that arise while she is not working and traveling back and forth daily to the hospital. But most of all, we need prayers. Status Update: Chuck experienced a cardiac event on Sunday December 7th, while out to dinner with his wife Julie. CPR was performed right away on site, he was rushed to the hospital, and later transferred to the ICU at Lahey Medical Center in Burlington, MA. He was without oxygen for quite some time during the event and has continued to be unresponsive at this time. Doctors have stated his condition is very serious and at this point, we are taking it hour by hour, we are all staying hopeful and praying he will pull through.

Timeline: Cape Ann Screening — The Flying Santa Friday, December 19 | 3:00–4:00 PM Community Room | Sawyer Free Library, 2 Dale Ave., Gloucester
The Sawyer Free Library is delighted to welcome Kory Curcuru of1623 Studios for a special screening of Timeline: Cape Ann — The Flying Santa.
More than 90 years ago, a Maine pilot began a heartfelt tradition: air-dropping Christmas packages to lighthouse keepers and their families who guided him to safety. Over time, the route expanded to Cape Ann and eventually reached Coast Guard stations and lighthouses across the country. Remarkably, the Flying Santa tradition continues to this day.
This captivating film tells the story of one man’s generosity and the enduring spirit of community that helped shape Gloucester’s identity. A Q&A with Kory Curcuru will follow the screening.
This free public event is open to all. Registration is requested at sawyerfreelibrary.org.
