FOR THE INTRIGUING WINE REGIONS REPRESENTED AT SAVOUR-SATURDAY’S MARCH 26TH TASTING, WELCOMING BACK THE OZ WINE COMPANY THAT CHAMPIONS FARMING FAMILY VINTNERS WHO STUBBORNLY CLING TO ORGANIC, BIODYNAMIC & SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES…PLACING A PREMIUM VALUE ON QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY.

WHAT & WHY…The OZ portfolio of curated wines and those that will be tasted this Saturday embody the vintners and their carefully managed terriors where curiosity for researching and testing innovative winemaking options, along with respect for proven contemporary techniques, define their approach to the “grape”.  From guest host & OZ wine rep/educator Chris Hoffman “Working at Oz has greatly expanded my wine horizons and palette. I love to work with the little honest gems in our portfolio, ones I’ll be introducing and pouring this Saturday.“

WHO: Guest Host Chris Hoffman, OZ Wines and Savour’s Kathleen Morgan have selected wines that will be new to your palette and follow our transition to spring and lighter cuisine.

WHEN: This Saturday, March 26th,  from 2pm to 4pm +… @ Savour

HOW: Saturday tastings are complimentary, as is parking behind the store with rear entrance.

Saturday’s Pourings Features Intriguing Wine Regions: Sintra & Vinho Verde, Portugal; Burgenland Austria; Trebbiano, It; Valle d’Aosta, It; Willamette Valley, OR

Quinta da Raza, Avesso (White), Vinho Verde, Portugal, 2019
, Alc. 13% Varietal: Avesso, Tasting: Regarded as one of the top grapes in the Vinho Verde mix, Avesso is from southern Vinho Verde region close to the Douro. Exhibiting fresh aroma like apple, green grape, citrus, peach, acacia and minerality with bit of oak sense. Full body, peach, pear, apricot and citrus like acidity, very smooth, juicy, rich and ripe leading to a clean finish. A high level and high quality, elegant Vinho Verde that is already delicious, Pairs Well: Shellfish, vegetarian/vegan, appetizers and snacks, Rating: Wine Enthusiast 91pts, Wine & Spirits, 90pts ….$17.99

Vom Donabaum Gruber Veltliner, Niederoterreich, Weinviertel, Burgenland, Austria, 2019 Alc. 12.5% Varietal: 100% Gruner Veltliner, Tasting: This wine leads with lovely touch of flint, accentuating its green pear and lemon zest aromas. On the palate, it’s light and dry, with a phenolic character that lends both texture and structure, adding complexity to all the freshness. Pairs Well: pork loin, vegetarian, lean fish, cured meats, Rating: 91pts Wine Enthusiast. $17.99

Noelia Ricci Trebbiano Bro, Emilia-Romagna,  Trebbiano, Italy 2019
, Alc.13.0%
Varietals: Trebbiano, Romagnolo, Pagadebit, Tasting: Color: of straw yellow with golden reflections within. Bouquet: delicate fruit scents, lemon zest, florals and citrus notes combined. Flavor: This wine is graced with pear, lemon citrus and herbal notes, Pairs Well: pasta dishes, shellfish, mature and hard cheeses and cured meats…$19.99

La Kiuva, Rouge de Vallee, Valle d’Aosta, Italy 2020, Alc. 13.5%, Varietals: 70% Picotendro (local Nebbiolo clone), Gros Vien, Neyret, Cornalin, and Fumin, Tasting: The 2020 La Kiuva Rouge de Vallée indeed embodies the fresh and ethereally elegant character of mountain wines. Light-to-medium-bodied, it captivates the senses with aromas and flavors of brambly red raspberries, cherries, and strawberries. On the palate, the fruits are laced with subtle hints of spring herbs and baking spice; white pepper emerges on the long finish buoyed by vibrant acidity that gives it a youthful kick!Pairs Well: mushroom soup, cold cuts and typical lard d’Arnad, Asian Pairing: Sio bak, Chicken Biryani, yakitori…$19.99

Illahe Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2020,
Alc. 13.5%, Varietal: Oregon Pinot Noir, Tasting:The aromas of the 2020 Illahe Vineyards Willamette Valley Pinot Noir begin with strawberry, tamarind, and blackberry then broaden along the palate to include chalk, tobacco leaf, chocolate, and earth. The acid supports a complete yet not overwhelming tannin balanced between skin and oak. The wine retains its velvet mouthfeel through a process of clarification by racking. For an entry level pinot, this wine is a great value and will last 6 to 12 years under the best conditions. Pairs Well: beef, veal cutlets, game (venison, deer), game birds…..$29.99

Cutest Dog Vote Update

I just want to update everyone in the vein of transparency. WordPress, the hosting site for the blog is working to restore all votes that were cast and not recorded. There was a glitch in the matrix and I want to make sure that the absolute right results are the results that we go with. It may take a couple days, it may be done by this evening but I will assure you that before we go forward I will do everything in my power to make sure we have the most accurate results possible before we announce the field of 64.

The great news is that I have a bracket site for the field of 64 that is going to be really fun to work with, that will load easily and you’ll be able to see all the rounds in the brackets as it goes with timers to vote until the next round and a bunch of sharing features. I think you guys are gonna love it.

I was on with customer support from 8:30-11:00PM last night and then again from 2:30AM-4:30 AM trying to get it resolved. This is where we’re at currently:

  • WordPress.com Support <help@wordpress.com>To:captjoeFri, Mar 25 at 10:23 AMChrisM (Automattic)Mar 25, 2022, 14:23 UTCHi there,I wanted to write with a brief update. My colleagues are working on this still, but you mentioned you wanted to know if there was a possibility that some votes may be lost. That isn’t impossible, but my colleagues are hopeful that everything can be recovered just fine. It’s a bit of a tricky issue, but it’s actively being worked on and we’ll be in touch as soon as possible.
  • Joey Ciaramitaro <captjoe@yahoo.com>To:WordPress.com SupportFri, Mar 25 at 10:27 AMok thanks so much.  before I reached out to the viewership i just wanted to make sure i knew we’d have the right counts  I appreciate your response
  • WordPress.com Support <help@wordpress.com>To:captjoeFri, Mar 25 at 10:49 AMAlba (Automattic)Mar 25, 2022, 14:49 UTCHi there,Just wanted to point out that as we head into the weekend, it may take several days to hear back from our developers. Hopefully by Monday we have more news/updates.In the meantime, if you have any other questions, please let us know.Best,
    AlbaHappiness Engineer |

I am really really sorry about the holdup but anyone that has been involved in our contests or judging in the past knows that I am incredibly passionate about running fair and transparent contest on which people can rely on the results. I’m disappointed by this setback but firmly believe as soon as I get the right results the round of 64 is going to be a blast.
