Meet Pinky Tuscadero!

Pinky is available to meet by appointment. Submit an application at CapeAnnAnimalAid.org/Adopt and an Adoption Counselor will reach out to you.

Pinky can be a little persnickety when first meeting him, and doesn’t like being touched much until he has time to get to know you. However once you have this guy’s trust, he will be asking you for head scratches and pets all the time! Pinky has done very well in his foster home, and has really started to relax and open up. He’s even started to snuggle up next to people on the couch and take naps. This is big for this little guy, given the condition he was in when he first came to us. Pinky was found wandering the streets and never claimed, so he was not the most trusting of people in the beginning. Also, when he first got to us his skin was bright pink, irritated and he had a ton of hair loss- we believe a mix of his poor health and lack of positive interactions with people lead to his handling sensitivities- with positive reinforcement and the right medications he has come a long way but there is still room for improvement. Luckily this guy is a major foodie so snacks are definitely the key to earn his trust. He is pee-pad trained and does really well indoors, so anyone looking for a low key dog who doesn’t need to go out much would find their perfect match here! Despite his rotund figure he is quite playful! He loves his toys- stuffies that crinkle and squeak, balls he can chase after- you can tell he really loves a specific toy when he makes little piglike snorts. Once he knows you, he will make happy snorts when you walk in the door as well, which is just the cutest thing ever. Pinky certainly knows how to make you feel loved! There is no way not to love him when you see him sleeping belly up in his big fluffy bed, which he often likes to do. He just needs someone to give him a chance and let him have a bit of time to get to know you, and also someone who understands small dogs who can be a little particular, or dare we say, cranky at times. Pinky is looking for an adult only home so that he can continue to become accustomed to handling and build a bond with his person at his own pace. He is considered a special needs adoption due to his thyroid issues that he is on medication for as well as his handling sensitivities. Despite all his quirks, Pinky can be a really great dog for the right type of person and we’re sure his perfect match will come along. Do you have persnickety little dog experience and willing to give this guy the patience and love he deserves? Submit an application to learn more about him!
Pinky is now part of the extended stay club! Since he’s been here for longer, his adoption fee has been reduced so that hopefully he can find a home sooner! You can find the application at https://capeannanimalaid.org/adopt.html

What is Plantย Medicine?

 by Angel Wings Wellness

Humans have been using plants as medicine for an estimated 60,000 years. Cannabis specifically has been used for health purposes since 2800 BC. Before the advent of modern pharmaceuticals, the only medicine available was from plants and animals. Many well-known medications were originally derived from plants, such as aspirin from willow bark and quinine from the cinchona tree. Until cannabis was effectively outlawed in 1937, it was widely prescribed by American herbalists and physicians.

Today, we are able to combine millennia of traditional wisdom with cutting-edge research to create potent plant medicine that truly works. Plus, we have the science and technology to guarantee potency, safety and efficacy.

Both then and now, humans and plants have coexisted, each relying on the other in countless ways. Plant medicine works in synergy, with a combined strength thatโ€™s greater than any individual part. In cannabis, the plantโ€™s naturally occurring compounds โ€“ cannabinoids and terpenes โ€“ work better together than separately. This is commonly referred to as the โ€œentourage effect.โ€

Plants possess many beneficial compounds. And, when carefully formulated with potent and purposeful ingredients, plant medicines deliver focused, targeted support when and where you need it most.

We use plants like lavender, ashwagandha and rhodiola rosea โ€“ along with plant-based ingredients like L-theanine and DHA โ€“ to complement full-spectrum CBD in formulas that support stress, promote sleep, relieve pain and more.

We believe in the power of plant medicine. Weโ€™ve seen the positive impact that CBD โ€“ and other botanicals โ€“ can have on a personโ€™s quality of life. Made to work. Made for all. Thatโ€™s our promise and our mission.
