Ah, Gloucester, Massachusetts. A town where the seagulls have more parking spots than the people.
* You know, they say Gloucester is “America’s Oldest Seaport,” which is funny, because half the town smells like it’s been sitting in a fish market for a century.
* The biggest tourist attraction? The “Man at the Wheel” statue. It’s a bronze fisherman, forever staring out at the harbor, probably wondering where he parked his boat.
* And the accent? Forget about it! You’ll need a translator just to order a “lobstah roll.”
* But hey, at least they have good seafood, right? As long as you don’t mind paying $50 for a clam that might have seen the Titanic.
But in all seriousness, Gloucester is a charming town with a lot to offer. It has a rich history, beautiful scenery, and friendly people. Just be sure to bring your appetite, your wallet, and maybe a phrasebook.
